A kindly lion, he came of age during the lean season. Though young, he is gently finding his own way, claiming a small territory and growing a pride of his own. His first friend was, oddly enough, a strange hyena named Laharu who offered to scout for reasons why the prey was scarce in exchange for a few meals. The snarky Sericus was the first lioness to join him and, though she is a few years his elder, she was fond enough of the kind young lion to become his queen.

Shortly afterward, Argentius adopted an adolescent who had been chased from her dead father's territory into his pride. He was able to impress the huntresses Tannare and Rutilusi. They have been teaching young Lost Stripe how to hunt, while Argentius explores the lands around the den they have made their own. The plight of the starving is a tragic one, though there is little Argentius can do for most of those he encounters in such dire straits. He was able to look after a pair of cubs whilst their mother was away on an attempted hunt, but he could only hope the small family would survive when she returned with scavenged scraps. Softened by the encounter, he brought the rebellious young lioness Duskstalker back to at least learn to fend for herself before she strikes out on her own once more, and the playful Mulberry.
