<i>You have some trouble finding Shetani to ask him to watch a cub for a few minutes. No seriously, is he off staring at the stars again?
You greet Demon-Prince Shetani Dark Nova with a head bump. He smiles a little, as if grateful for the attention, before returning to his usual dark corner.</i>
Shetani Dark Nova was found by Queen Ruqaya when he was a young cub. It is uncertain where exactly she found him, but nevertheless she took him in to be her son. Being the least popular lioness in the pride, Shetani himself soon became an outcast. He was raised to put himself first and always do whatever he could to rise to power. Being a powerful, huge cub who never spoke to anyone else, whispers spoke of him being the offspring of a demon lion-beast. Ruqaya used these rumors to further push him away from his pride, especially as he grew older and trained under King Ashura as an adolescent.
The King himself found Beast to be a successful apprentice. He was more than capable of defending the pride, and he would perform whatever duties he was asked, no matter how brutal they may be. Ashura still hesitated in making him his heir, as he was still not his son and the pride was not in favor of him. However, with his eldest queen whispering in his ear and Shetani's progress, he finally decided to make him heir to the pride.
Shetani himself finally felt like he was able to breathe; he performed his mother's duties to the letter and would soon be King. It still wasn't enough for her though. The Queen soon began plotting her King's death in favor of her son rising to power, knowing she could manipulate him into whatever she wanted him to be. Shetani was at a cross-roads; would he murder his King to please his mother, or would he wait patiently for his throne, risking the alliance of the one lioness who was on his side?
Even after Ruqaya's death, he battled with the question. One day while at the training center with King Ashura, he came across a familiar-looking cub. She recognized him instantly and the two shared a heart-felt reunion. It was his younger sister. He didn't even need to ask him to take her home with them; Ashura told the other pride's queen that she was his now. It was only then that Shetani decided to go with his gut feeling and to not murder his King, in cold blood. He gave his sister a new part of her name to signify their bond as siblings: Shujaa, or "warrior".
After Shujaa joined his pride, the two of them became very close; both of them were able to trust someone unconditionally for the first time. Shetani began to break out of his shell and speak to his pride, although he was still very much an introvert. The lionesses saw this change and began to trust him from a distance as their next King.
When Princess Kuzimu Charred Snow was born, the cub was an outcast just as he was. The heir took a liking to her, and as she grew, she grew fond of him as well. Eventually it was decided that she would become his Queen one day. The pride was weary of the odd couple, but happy that Shetani took one of King Ashura's daughters in the pride as his mate.
Demon-King Shetani Dark Nova took reign over the pride when Ashura retired, and everyone was shocked by his fair way of ruling. He could keep his Queen's temper under control, and he brought back the tradition of having a head defender and head huntress due to only having eyes for one Queen. He stayed rather reserved, as is his nature, but the King did not rule harshly or passively.
When Ashura passed on and the watering hole dried up, King Shetani moved his pride's camp into the dry watering hole, creating a safer, newer camp for them. Their original camp could be used as a decoy for those who came across it, however as Shetani began creating closer relationships with neighboring prides, it became a small trading hub for them. The pride thrives under his rule.
