Yasir was never meant to become the king, it was Reiza, who had been raised by Ovre to take lead after he's gone. Everyone in the pride was surprised when the old king proclaimed that he had found a new and better heir. That said no one was really happy with sudden and unexpected change.

Ovre did not want to go in his stepfather steps. He never considered himself merciful or even good. His heart lacked empathy to weak or ugly. For him killing someone is nothing wrong or even worth discussing with others.
Pride under his rule was meant to be strong and big. Everyone, who couldn't meet his standards, in case of looks or abilities, would be brutally killed within seconds.
Old lionesses, which remembered the old king, didn't really like Ovre, but were too afraid to do anything. Ones who tried to disagree with him were instantly killed. But lionesses who were new to the pride, or were born here, didn't really see any problems with their king and were supportive of him.
Once upon exploring his lands, Ovre met three young cubs - Divine, Sethon and Reiza - which he decided to take with himself, seeing their strength and will of life. He adopted them as his own children, wanting to build a strong pride with their help.

S E R Y Y

Serry, the first king of this pride, was a good, caring lion who would never do any harm to anyone. He preached peace and love among his species, so it was no surprise that he welcomed everyone into his land. One day, while exploring, he stumbled upon two primal lions - Kiba and Ovre. He decided to take them with himself and give them chance to become his sub males if they wanted. Old Kiba agreed and became good friend with his king.
Seryy wanted young Ovre to become a king after him, so he spent a lot of time with the young cub trying to teach him how to be a good king. And when time for Seryy came, his adopted son became a new king of the pride.
