Coco23's Den

Always dancing in a field of flowers, Coco has always loved being with the animals. He constantly has them around him, if not on him. One deer in particular loves to curl up beside him, rubbing its head against this king’s fur. The deer has been around since it was born, since its mother was one of Coc’s animal friends as well. She had sadly passed unexpectedly and her fawn was left with the king. There’s more than just this animal constantly around Coco though. Birds, butterflies, almost anything loves to just be around him. They know that he is kind, and gentle. That he would never hurt them, even if he was starving because he would only eat what he needs, and that is always before he comes to the field. Coco would never think of eating animals in front of them. Coco’s pride knows about the animals, and always has. It’s pretty common to see him walking around with them flying above or walking beside. The animals have gotten pretty comfortable around the other lions as they have never posed a threat to them. They trust that the king would protect them if any of the lions posed a threat.
Coco is quiet, so much so that his own pride doesn’t know when he’s around. He could appear out of thin air, and constantly scares the lions in his pride. It wasn’t his choice to become king, as he was the son of the previous king, and therefore inherited the pride. He would have preferred to be under the rule of someone else as he does not believe that it can lead this pride well. He has so far, and nobody has complained. The hunters get well needed rest, the mothers have a steady supply of help and food, and so much more. Coco is also very talkative when you get to know him. Only a few lions know this, as his quietness sometimes alarms the other lions in his pride. Everyone who has gotten to know him has enjoyed his personality because he is bright and bubbly. He is a joy to be around, always cracking jokes and telling his lions random facts that he found out previously. Sometimes when he finds out something new, he goes up to one of his friends who knows him well and goes on and on about whatever he just learned.

He watched the deer fawns gently play with each other, their moms watching over a few feet away from them. It wasn't surprising that they let the king, Coco, around the babies without a second thought. The mothers knew that the lion would never think to do anything to their babies. When Coco saw them tense up slightly, though, he knew one of the lions from his pride was coming up behind him.
He turned, seeing it was one of his friends and smiled gently, “I’m needed?” he asked.
The young lioness gently smiled, “The parties are back. Everyone wanted to know if you would be joining?”
He noticed how she didn’t say hunting parties, and nodded, “I will in a bit. Wanna stay around for a bit?”
“Of course. The animals are always lovely,” The lioness sat down next to him, keeping quiet with no sudden movements, so as not to scare the animals.
“Did you know that the giraffe's tongues are blue?” Coco looked at his friend, smiling brightly. “And that dung beetles can carry over their body weight?”
“I did not,” She laughed lightly, and looked at the baby giraffe that was nearby, playing in the water. “Anything else I should know about the world around us?”
“Elephants remember a lot,” He looked at her, “They remember a lot more than us,” Coco waved off in the distance, “The day the landscape looked when they came into this world, the way the sunshine looked when they found where they were supposed to be. They remember everything.”
“That is amazing compared to the fact that I can’t remember what I ate earlier,” She laughed, “What else do you have?”
“The crocs in the water are older than dinosaurs,” Coco said blatantly, with a deadpan face before his smile came back.
The lioness stood stunned for a second, before laughing loudly, “What?!” She nearly toppled over from laughing too hard, putting her paw down to catch herself, “You mean the old grumpy crocs in the water, are they so old they remember the dinosaurs?”
“That is what I am telling you!” Coco started laughing with her, “That's why they’re so grumpy!”
The lioness and the king laughed for a few more minutes before she wiped her eyes with her paw, and got up, “Cmon lets go, we’re going to be late for dinner.”
“Awh, fine,” Coco got up, still laughing.
