Taken in as a cub by King Gero, the young felis was named PeachFur by his new father. In PeachFur, Gero saw promise, a strong lion with well-formed muscles, even in his youthful, cubbish body. Although he was now one of the pride, the other cubs, and even some of the adults, found fault with PeachFur for his unusual appearance; his short tail without any tuft at its end, his long, pointed ears, his narrow, lengthened muzzle. "Stub butt", they called him, and "hyena ears". Although PeachFur tried not to take his pride mates' views to heart, he found himself examining his appearance in lakes, discouraged by how different he appeared from his pride mates, with their longer tails, shorter muzzles and ears. Worse, as he grew, his mane was much shorter than that of other lions, and PeachFur was increasingly dismayed. He kept his distance from the other lions, teaching himself to hunt through silent observation of the others from afar, and by watching the loner leopards who prawled the land and stored their prey in trees.

However, King Gero raised PeachFur as his own, training with the young lion day after day, teaching him the ways of the land, tutering him in the ways of rulership. Quite without PeachFur noticing, he slowly gained the skills needed to rule a pride with wisdom and consideration. Quite without PeachFur realizing it, he was being groomed as heir and future king.

When the day came for King Gero to retire and appoint his successor, the pride lions were stunned when PeachFur was chosen as the new king. Perhaps no one was more surprised, however, than PeachFur himself. During his coronation, PeachFur took the new name PeachStar. He realized how much King Gero cared for him, how much the king believed in him, to choose him, of all the pride, as his successor. Being so valued by the old king restored much of the young felis' self-confidence, and he felt that he could, indeed, rule this pride as their king. Though initially puzzled by the choice, the other lions of the pride respected Gero's decision, and in time, could not dispute the leadership skills PeachStar showed. Indeed, he was a leader who shone with loyalty and dedication to his pride, to his lands, and to his lions, regardless of how he may once have been treated by his pride mates.

Now king, PeachStar still prefers to spend much of his time alone, to enjoy the quiet peace of the land, and to observe the occurrences within his territory.

As much as PeachStar enjoys his solitude - and he always will - he knows now that he has found his place in the world and in his pride.
