Your paws are clogged with sand, the heat bearing down upon your back. How long have you been walking for? Hours? Days? Maybe even weeks? A simple exploration suddenly became an endless hike as you cross the barren dunes. You blink, pausing to clear some stray sand from your eyes. When you focus back however, you find yourself in a lush jungle, the calls of birds and clicks of insects echoing around you. The fresh smell of water wafts over your snout, and you waste no time in following the fresh water scent to quench your dry throat. Parting through some dense foliage, you see a large oasis with a few lionesses laying about and grooming each other. Noticing your presence, they all look up curiously before relaxing again, falling into a soft chatter. It seemed safe. As you begin to eagerly drink, a shadow falls over you, making you look up. The king of this strange oasis stands beside you with a gentle and friendly smile.
“Hello, welcome to the pride of Prosperity. My name is No-One, and I am the king of this pride.” He rumbles, dipping his head.
You ask him how you got here, what even this place was. You were just wandering lost in a desert just moments ago.
He gives a small smile. Was that amusement in his eyes?
“The oasis chooses who it wants, and you have been chosen to visit this place for a brief period of time.” He rumbles. His tail swishes as he looks over the oasis, calm.
“Stay as long as the oasis will let you. You never know. One blink and you might be back in those endless dunes again.” He muses.
You look away back towards the lionesses and the water, even more confused. Or perhaps satisfied, you are safe for now after all. When you look back to ask No-One more questions, the king has vanished. Well, better take advantage of the sanctuary you were given, who knows how long it will last.
