| The Kalkidan Pride |
Demetros, son of terrible Kojo, descendant of mighty Iskinder, and the leader of the pride his ancestors built, has been alive for over sixty years. No one, not even Demetros himself, can explain how or why. He has outlived multiple generations of his pridemates now. He shows no outward signs of his age.

The pride has resided in the cloud forests of the Ethiopian highlands for over a century now. Six kings, including Iskinder himself, preceded Demetros. All were formidable lions and rulers, but there was no hint of the unearthly in them. Nor was there in Demetros, when he was born. There remained none for the first fourteen years of his life. Indeed, outside of his seemingly eternal youth, there remains none to this day - besides the ever-growing distance between him and his pridemates.

Eight generations now have passed since the pride's founding. For many years, the pride was populated almost entirely by the descendants of its founding lionesses, as well as those of Iskinder's family. Those bloodlines have dwindled and died. To ensure his pride's future, and perhaps for more enigmatic reasons as well, Demetros courted a number of new lionesses. He stands alone now, leading a pride that no longer shares his history.
