Pride Lore

Mountains rise, looming gods in every direction, closing off passages and casting great shadows across the plains. They are feared; worshiped; the subject of folklore and stories shared by prides from here to the horizon. Very few of these stories, however, include the lions that call this sacred place home.

They are few, gathered in dens around the resurgence, making the best of the cool water and the smooth rocks it has carved over hundreds of years. Believed to be blessed by the moon herself, they make it their job to execute her will, taking in lionesses found wandering and building their lives around her waning. She is thought to respond by providing plentiful hunting seasons, diverting illnesses, and of course gifting the pride the resurgence itself.

Lions with Pink pelts are thought the Moon's favoured, and sleep closest to her in the highest dens. They are her priests, her voice, the words of wisdom and peace during pride conflicts. Favored lions often possess strange spirits gifted physical form by the Goddess herself, which manifests in misshapen or unusual physical features
