A lion named Ahedi was a young nomad who wandered far and wide hoping for a pride and territory of his own.

One day after Ahedi had caught a measly bird for his dinner, he came across an elderly lion who lay alone in the shade of a tree. Ahedi could see from afar that this old lion was very thin and frail. He felt bad for the poor lion and decided to approach him and share what little food he had with the lion.

The old lion was thankful for the food and told Ahedi of a secret grove of trees where he had hidden a stash of golden beetles. Ahedi thanked him but politely declined the elder lion’s offer. The older lion smiled and told Ahedi that he was near to his last day and he would no longer be in need of his beetles or the lands on which his pride use to live. After much persistence, Ahedi finally accepted the old lion’s offer.

Ahedi stayed with the old lion and cared for him until his death one week later. He then followed the old lion’s instructions to the secret grove and the stash of golden beetles. The pride lands that Ahedi now held were lush and wonderous. A stunning sight to behold. Ahedi asked for blessings from the ancestors and for guidance to establish his own pride. His prayers were answered and Ahedi’s pride quickly grew and so began the reign of Ahedi and the era of the Pride of the Secret Grove.
