Kingdom of Ghaltana
The lions of Ghaltana are cruel, exacting, and tenacious. They are determined to survive no matter the cost. The king of Ghaltana may take however many queens he wants, so long as he can provide for all of them. He may also declare a High Queen, the wife who he feels is his true mate. This is a rare occurrence, and the High Queen is considered sacred. Her cubs receive special treatment. The son of any queen is a viable heir, and may be named crown prince. If the queens bear no sons, the son of a lady may claim the throne. Lords may also challenge the throne if they wish, but few do, knowing that the challenge means a fight to the death. The lionesses who will be the crown prince's queens become crown princesses. Subjects protect the cubs. Their names consist of exactly four letters, as opposed to the long and intricate names of the nobility.
