PRIDE LAWS
Keeping the majority of Hades' rules intact, Nightstar is in the process of refining, revising, and adding new rules. So far, he is looking to make the spirituality aspect of culture more strict and involved.

🌹 Seriously wounding, maiming, or killing any non-enemy lion is strictly prohibited and punishable by permanent exile.
🌹 The shaman is not to be disturbed while communicating with spirits. Penalty of 4 months helping the Shaman gather herbs along with their other duties.
🌹 Any lion under the age of 2 years caught leaving the camp without an escort will be penalized by 2 weeks of extra lessons. Depending on how severe, the naming ceremony may be delayed.
🌹 Disrespecting or harming the ancestors, spirits, or elders in any way is strictly prohibited. Depending on the crime, the punishment can be anywhere from 2 months of extra duties to permanent exile.
🌹 Lions born outside the pride are given a prefix and suffix by Hades, while lions born within the pride(or adopted) are given prefixes by their parents at birth; they usually to do with appearance. They start out with the suffix -cub until 1 year, when they take on the suffix -paw. Only when they are 2 years old(or in some rare cases, older), do they get their full name with a suffix given by Hades based on personality. No two lions may have the same name.
🌹 Belief in the ancestor spirits is heavily encouraged, but not enforced. However, participation in celebrations and ceremonies is required, and refusing is punishable by at least 6 months of extra duties; if the lion is still not cooperating after that, the punishment may be extended up to a year.
🌹 Only kill other animals for food or in self-defense. Never take more than needed, and spiritual lions may pray to the spirits in thanks. Punishable by 1 month learning from and helping the shaman.
🌹 After recieving their full name, a young adult lion is required to attend a ceremony where the shaman communes with the spirits in order to present the young lion. Their job is chosen by the ancestor spirits if they are accepted. If they are deemed unworthy, they may remain a trainee until they're ready, or be exiled.
🌹 Neglecting any cub in pain or in need of assistance, even if they are from an enemy pride, is prohibited, and depending on the severity, the punishment can be anywhere from 2 months to a year of mandatory daily lectures about compassion from the shaman, matriarch, and elders.

ROLE GUIDE
Matriarch: 1/1 The leader of the pride. She is in charge of everything, including but not limited to: representing the pride, providing for it, protecting it from predators, negotiations, names, jobs, and ceremonies. The current matriarch is Nightstar.
Second: 1/3 A deputy who is the next in line to become matriarch, as well as advisor to the current matriarch. They are in charge of 'lesser' duties like planning patrols and hunts, resolving disputes, assigning daily chores, and spending time training with the matriarch. There may be up to three seconds at a time, all equal in authority. The current second(s) is/are Lotusclaw.
Shaman: 1/1 The shaman is knowledgable in all manner of herb and spiritual medicine. They treat wounds from battle, illness, deliver cubs, as well as recieve prophecies from the ancestors and act as an advisor to the matriarch in this respect. The current shaman is Crowface.
Acolyte: 1/2 An acolyte assists and learns from the shaman, and when the shaman dies, one of them will take her place. A shaman may have up to two acolytes at one time. The current acolyte(s) are/is Onyxcloud.
Cub-Watcher: 3/4 A lioness that spends the majority of her time taking care of the pride's young and juniors, protecting and teaching them until they are old enough to be novices.
Spear: Any lioness above the age of 2 years(who didn't become a cub-watcher); responsible for providing food for the pride, protecting the pride's borders, and training the novices.
Junior Spear: A young lion between the ages of 1 and 2 years who is expected to go through full training.
Student: A weaned cub between the ages of 5 months and 1 years; too young for full apprenticeship, but expected to take lessons.
Young: A cub below the age of 5 months; not yet weaned.
Honored: A lion who has reached the age of 13 years. These elder lions act as mentors and storytellers, and spend the last few years of their life in comfort.
