I think we should have a "no support" on topics to go with the support buttons. It would be easier to tell how many are against an idea and also see if more people support than don't support.

edit:

This could also help lessen the unnecessarily harsh 'no support' comments. Clicking a button to show their opinion may lessen harsh comments because their voice is heard.

This suggestion has 67 supports and 0 NO supports.

I'm sorry, the irony there killed me.

The biggest con of this are the sensitivity of people. Many times with the dislike option, it gets the OP depressed or extremely sad. This may not be a big deal to some, but think about it. When someone is already depressed and they see the number, it leads to unpleasant thoughts. They may think people hate them, that they're worthless, and it makes them even more distant from people. They also may have other great ideas, but will never post them because they lost confidence.

Kitsune: which is worse though? seeing the no support count or seeing people rip your idea apart in the comments? because I have seen some harsh comments on these things. A button would be easier for the non supporters, thus they may not feel the need to comment to show their 'non support'

I've also seen some extremely mean and harsh comments in support sections.

So, support.

If someone can't handle a no support button they probably shouldn't be on a 16+ site...

Support.

If they're getting upset about people not supporting their ideas then they need to remember putting up an idea opens it to both positive and negative feedback. They need to take a step back and realize that a no support isn't a personal attack or insult. People like and dislike ideas and that's fine.

Instead of being hurt or offended they should consider the reasons why people didn't support the initial idea and edit it accordingly.

I think both are about equal, depends and varies.
Depressed either way, and it's honestly sad seeing the harshness here. ;-;
I'm reading everything and I just wanna cuddle the person and thread being ripped to pieces.

For me it feels worse having something ripped apart. Trust me...

I've been called some nasty things. And I've been insulted a few times. The dislike button would be easier than seeing someone say rather not so pleasant things.

This has been suggested already.
My biggest problem is lack of communication in the end.

So no support.

1. People already dont comment because pressing the support button is easier. It would happen with this too.
2. There are some ideas that in general would be good for the game but people wouldnt like it because it hinders their gameplay. They would have a gazillion no supports, even if in general the idea is good.
3. Negative review has more impact than positive. Usually if you look for a good book to read or a good game to play you look at the ratings. if it has a very bad rating you dont give it a chance. If it has good rating, you take a look and judge for yourself. negative is more powerful.
4. The developers dont choose ideas to implement from the amount of supports. The count of supports simply tell them how it would be received. If something is not supported much, it will not have as many supports compared to the count of active members on Lioden. They also dont want to see how many dont like it but how many like it.
5. People press the button and the OP will have no idea what is wrong with their idea. You give no chance for them to correct it, neither can they convince you and explain to you why the idea is good.
6. The developers themselves need the critique from the members. It shows a wider perspective and gives them the idea why we wouldnt like a suggestion to be implemented.
7. If you see someone being rude, then best is to report them to the mods and they will take care of it.
8. If you feel bad about bad critique which explains why the idea is bad, then maybe submitting ideas isnt for you. I myself got a lot of critique but Idont get mad or sad. It is part of making a public suggestion. You will receive feedback and they wont be always positive.

those are all good points Axel

Just wanted to say I didn't suggest this because I get upset at feedback. It was just another point to add to my reasoning xP

I do support this, but here's a thought.
What if the number of supports/no supports would be hidden to the players and only viewable to the mods and admins? Leave the commenting alone, that's fine as it can build/improve upon ideas, but do we, as players, really need to know what the numbers are? Sure it can be nice to know how many like an idea, but... I dunno, it's just a passing thought... Heck, even if the suggestion board was 100% anonymous so no one knows who is suggesting the idea or leaving feedback...
Yeah that probably sounds bad, but if anyone wants to fly with that and fix the issues with what I wrote so it makes sense/sounds better, by all means, go for it.

I really like that idea, Dragoste. It also leaves people less bias since they wouldn't be able to just choose the more popular one.
