WesHe hasn't been there for a while.
Jaded already, the man lift his glaze to the high buildings of Goldenrod City with a sigh. He had left Johto several years ago to go back to his native region, Orre, and he never missed the huge concrete blocks of this modern city. He's born from the desert and always avoided big cities and large concentrations of people. After having left his land to get a house in the capital city of Johto, some years ago, he never stopped to wonder what could have convinced him to do so. Was he trying to escape to some bad memories?

His look darkens while he was recalling the intense memories who marked the few years he spent in this city, so far from his home. Maybe he went back for those heavy memories. Maybe he was trying to find back something important he lost in there, to recapture what he loved, to find back those strong feelings, being positive or negative, he only met in there, or maybe was he there to fight against his misses and forget them. To untie him from all of them once and for all.
But, in Goldenrod City, only remains those cold concrete buildings and a crowd of strangers.
The man's look left the high roofs to come back to the ground. With a raging kick, he made the dust fly away around him, and turned around, turning his back to the white city, walking to the Route 34. He needs to allow himself to unwind. Maybe a fight may help. He observed the people around, looking for a trainer to challenge.

Actually just noticed I made a mistake within the roleplay : I confused two of his Pokemon and used a Houndoom he was supposed to have left in the PC.... So, here's the team he actually is using for this roleplay :
Umbreon
Feraligatr
Absol
Flygon
Houndoom
Espeon (stolen by the grunts)

Amazing start.

Name: Sarah Tanner

Age: 21

Home Region: Sinnoh

Team: Haunter

Personality: Sweet and helpful but protective and sneaky when she has to be. Very knowledgeable about pokemon but very unsure of her ability to train them. When she battles her personality becomes more aggressive and her battle style is offensive, very little in the way of defense.

Appearance: Pale skin and auburn hair in a bob, turquoise eyes, she's 5 feet and 4 inches. She wears an emerald green top with 3 quarters sleeves and a v-cut neckline, barely showing any cleavage. The hem shows he stomach but the front has a v shape pointing down, as though the cut from the neckline had been moved to the hem of the shirt. She has dark denim shorts, and black, knee-high, leather boots with a thick heel. She wears silver hoop earrings, a silver Bengal bracelet on her left wrist, and a silver chain necklace with a Bronzor shaped pendant.

Sarah sighed happily as she stepped off the boat, a new region meant a new start. Her grandfather in Sinnoh made it impossible to go anywhere without either special treatment from people or people asking all kinds of questions about her grandfather. She loved her grandfather, the Sinnoh pokemon professor Rowen, but she was tired of his shadow. She had inherited his gift for pokemon study and wild pokemon seemed to like her as much as tame pokemon so they had no problem approaching her freely. Due to that she tried to keep away from most people, worried they'd take advantage of that to catch any pokemon that came near her. She only had her Haunter personally and didn't plan to go on a catching spree. She would likely get five more to fill her team but that would be it.

Being daytime Haunter refused to leave his pokeball so she just walked around on her own, taking in the sights of Johto. She'd heard a lot about this place and once she finished this region it would be easy to get to Kanto since the two regions were connected. Her only regret was being on her own but she had no one she would actually call friend that would come with her. Yes, she had friends but they couldn't leave the region. Roark, Maylene, and Volkner had to stay for their gyms and Riley was deep into his research. So, here she was alone, leaving the pier for Goldenrod City with her bag over her shoulder and large backpack on her back.

Wes was standing up in the grass, considering some kid in blue shorts, but quickly moved his eyes away with a sigh. The kid obviously wouldn't be good enough. But there were no one around there that looks like a real challenger for the experienced trainer.
He noticed a young girl coming over his way with a large bag on her back. She may be some young adventurer on her journey, maybe one of those kids roaming the regions to get those badges as a proof of their value as Pokemon trainers. Wes actually never tried to get any of those badges. They're valueless in Orre anyway, and he doesn't need those to prove his value. Being the great champion of the Colosseums is way enough to him, and his victory against the Indigo League was enough to make him known a bit in Johto. But if this girl really is a Pokemon trainer going from gym to gym, she may be a rather good trainer, at least the only one on this road that may be interesting enough for a fight.
He then decided to move toward the girl and stopped in front of her :
- Hey, kid. You're a Pokemon trainer, right?

Sarah blinked, almost having run into the man in front of her. She took a couple steps back and nodded, "Yeah." She figured he wanted a battle but she wasn't too confident in winning. For starters a six on one fight wasn't an ideal fight and he looked like a tough trainer. Maybe she should look more into catching at least one more pokemon so something like this wouldn't happen again. Still, she'd never backed out of a challenge, "You want to battle right? Don't know how well it will go. Or if It'll be a challenge but sure."

[[ I... I replied to this. I replied the day you did. My reply disappeared. Probably because of this server problem they had. I'm sorry for the long wait, then... ]]

He noticed the girl was not really confident about the challenge. She's just a girl, he thought. He barely ever met a woman that was good enough to gain his respect, being Pokemon-wise or not, or maybe is it because he automatically assume girls can't be as strong and good than males. He always have been a macho and a misogynist, considering women only belongs to the kitchen and can't be good for any real work. Yet the person he loved and admired the most was a woman, as strong as men. Then, maybe he should not underestimate this girl kid too much. At least not before the fight.

- Yeah. I'm bored as hell. I hope you can be entertaining enough.

Saying this, he detached a Pokéball from his belt and raised it to the level of his upper belly, ready to throw it. He was holding the ball in a firm yet soft way, and it was shining, perfectly clean and polished, with a little heart-shaped sticker decorating it, betraying the loving and caring side of a man acting rude and nasty.

(It's alright. No need to apologize for something you couldn't help. ^^ )

Sarah frowned and turned, moving back a bit before getting her pokeball ready, it was a black pokeball with green spots and orange around the hinge, a dusk ball, middle and button. She didn't care for rude behavior but wasn't going to judge him just for that. For all she knew he was having a bad day. "Whenever you're ready we can start then." She was nervous about this since she could see he had a full party and he seemed to be quite an experienced trainer. She on the other hand only had her one pokemon and hadn't even figured out what she wanted to do yet.

Wes tried a forced smile, trying to feel those exciting feelings he missed so much. He would always remember the overwhelming excitement, the delicious stress of great battles. The taste of power and combativeness that overcome you when you are fighting to truly destroy the enemy, the adrenalin that flows in your veins when losing the battle may result in loosing your liberty or even your life. The elation when you know those Pokemons you are fighting won't hesitate to kill you, the human, if you don't have any more Pokemon to stop them. Yes, he enjoyed to fight for his life, to fight against true enemies he came to destroy. This he what he would call a true fight, while those little street battles are nothing but training to keep your hand in. And, while Colosseum battles may be good enough as an entertainment despite not having true stakes, mostly thanks to the public and the recognition of the winner, he probably lost the taste for small, meaningless fights. He was not always that way, but it looks like you lose the taste of small things when you're use to great things.
This is why the young yet experienced trainer felt like the fight was boring him already, before it even started. But he is not going to have anything better any soon, so he should rather try to enjoy it at its most.

- Let's start, then !

The trainer threw his Pokéball, trying to look determined. The white and red ball bounced on the ground and opened pointing down, releasing the matter enclosed inside, which quickly materialised into the shape of an Espeon, standing firm and proud, his forelegs slightly bended like if he was ready to jump, his ears pointing back and his small, delicate mouth showing his little teeth, letting a discreet growl out. The beast looked more like a pillow-pet than a fighter, yet was trying to appear aggressive and strong.

Sarah couldn't help but smile at the pink pokemon, "Cute. Then again I also say Deino is cute." She muttered to herself, running through the facts she knew about Espeon in her head. Though she could guess it's level was higher than her Haunter she had the type advantage. She tossed her own pokeball and a black light came from it, forming into an annoyed Haunter, not happy about being in the daylight. The ghost type looked down at the Espeon and stuck his tongue out.

Wes refrained a frown when the Haunter appeared. Of course he was aware he is starting with a huge disadvantage. Amber, his Espeon, is trained to hit hard and quick, having a rather bad defence. He can't handle many attacks and probably wouldn't even survive one ghost or shadow-type attack if his adverser is well trained and strong enough to hit hard. The most intelligent thing to do would be to switch his Espeon for his Umbreon to gain a type advantage. But Wes doesn't like those fights were everyone is switching their Pokemons. They may be more strategic, but they lack the rhythm, the suspense and the risk that makes him truly enjoy a battle. Also, calling his Pokemon back may look like admitting a weakness, it would be like admitting the Pokemon he chose can't do it, and Wes was too proud (or stupid?) for this. Then, he decided he will be keeping his Espeon on the battleground despite his type disadvantage. His only chance would be to hit hard enough to kill the ghost within the first turn. Espeon being quicker than an Haunter, there is a chance.

- ....Alright. Shadow Ball.

It sounded more like an advice than an command. Wes is really confident into his Pokemon and know they may be able to fight without him, and often know which attacks to use against a specific time of adverser. But Haunter really isn't a common Pokemon in Orre, and the trainer is not sure his companion already met one, then does the Espeon even know about his current difficult situation?
Anyway, the pink Pokemon obeyed. Having a slightly better speed statistic than a haunter, he was the one attacking first. With a cute little kitty noise that sounded nothing like the aggressive war cry it was supposed to be, Amber gathered his inner powers to create a small cloud-shaped cluster of some dark gaseous matter, shaped it into a dense and dark ball, strangely looking like black light, and sent it right in his foe's face.

Haunter was in the middle of a yawn when the attack hit but the ghost shook off the surprise and seemed to get angry. The Haunter growled and glared at the small pink pokemon.

Sarah rolled her eyes, "That's what you get for playing jokes all night. Now, Thunder Punch!" That might be her doom, she had the tendency to take things easy when a fight was against a cute pokemon but she wouldn't be able to do that. Right now it was more of a test to see what the Espeon could handle.

The ghost huffed and balled his fist, then it began to spark with electricity. Then the disembodied hand shot forward at the pink, cat-like pokemon.

Both the trainer and the Pokemon were disappointed to see the ghost take the blow that good. They played the luck card, now the trainer worried a bit, wondering if his psychic Pokemon would handle the ghost's attack that well. It would be a shame to loose even one single Pokemon against this young girl.
But, surprisingly, the adverser did not command for a ghost or shadow type attack, and asked for an electric one indeed. Wes starred at the girl for a few seconds, wondering what may have crossed her mind. Either she's too bad to even know about types, or her ghost Pokemon doesn't know any shadow or ghost type attack, what would be a serious waste. For a few seconds, another idea crossed his mind : what if she actually was so strong she wanted to spare his Pokemon to make the fight length a bit more? No, this couldn't be. His Pokemons have really good levels, she can hardly be higher.

The Espeon made a side-jump, trying to avoid the sparkling hand, but did not manage to escape the attack and the electric fist hit his side, destabilising him. He managed to land on his feet and faced again the ghost, aggressively grumbling. Without waiting for his trainer's command, he gathered his shadow energy again, and threw another Shadow Ball in the ghost's face.

(Sorry to interrupt the RP. Do you want to work out who wins or cut the battle by having a villain team show up? Maybe surprise net catches both pokemon? If you don't want to that's fine. Just let me know.)

(Alright. I thought in addition to plot it would be a reason for the two characters to stick together for a while instead of just going their separate ways. What team should it be?)

(Yes, indeed, it's a good way to stick them together. As for the team.... as we're in Johto, it may just be Team Rocket? Or if you have any idea, just go for it, you don't need my approval. Just do whatever you want.)
