A big theme here is people complaining that they cant afford good art because they dont have gb, are poor...etc....

It takes time and effort and your art is a bit of yourself, do not feel you need to give it away for pennies.

Think about what you would sell your art for in real dollars, what your time is worth to you, then convert that to gb prices.

I just have to say that art is a service, and you would not cry to the plumber or an artist outside of this game about pricing , you would not ask an artist in a gallery or even on deviant art for their hard work for pennies, the same applies here.

HOWEVER, if you enjoy doing it for cheap than thats cool, but do not feel you need to. There are people here that would pay proper prices.

Thank you for making this thread Aquariummagic :)

A good example to take is Feather's or Flareon's art, they value it highly based on the time it takes and still have an extremely high demand.
Once you feel your art is at a level you are happy to sell it at, price it like any other job. (Basically if you look at your art and would buy it yourself then go ahead ^^)

Oh, and if someone tries to guilt-trip you because they are 'poor' tell them that art is a luxury product and they don't need it. I can't stand people who tell you that they want it cheap and it should be done for basically free because 'not everyone can afford art'. If tiny single-colour bit of pixel art on here can sell for up to 1gb, then so can your art.

Yes. This needed to be said omg...

I've gotten into at least four arguments on the subject since I returned from hiatus just a month or two ago. Many artists here are selling quality work at less than $1/hour - and while if they want to do that to be charitable or for practice, that's totally fine, I've got no problem with that. What I do have a problem with is the crowd who bitches at artists for pricing their art at what it's actually worth. >>

Thanks for this post. It's always nice to know that some people actually think about the process involved and not only final product ^-^

I'm glad that you made this post. Sadly, my confidence sucks because I've been told that I shouldn't sell my art for x price because of the quality, etc. (Which hurts for more than just pride, it hurts otherwise too) I have sold art for 5 GB because of the time I put into it and the people said they would.

I just dislike when say, someone does a large piece, and they only sell it for 1 or 2 GB and it is worth way more due to effort, coloring and how long it takes to draw every single character like if it's 8 or more. And it is very difficult to draw that many, trust me. (Still working on a very large project myself that I am selling)
