GB prices have been always a sensitive subject to Liodenners. But we do need to talk about it from time to time. It has been changing over the years, rising and sinking, sometimes naturally, sometimes artificially.

Right now, I want to talk about a problem regarding these prices and suggest solutions to it. Please note that my solution may not be an effective one so please, do suggest your own ideas on how to solve this.

With the addition of the GB Sales in the Trading Center, we can now find the GBs so much easier. We dont have to scout the TC and keep doing searches for them anymore. It made life easier.

But there has been a problem with it ever since it was implemented.

The blatant and shameless manipulation of average GB prices by adding an unimaginably high priced GB into the sales openly, right under the noses of the staff.

Although nobody will buy it, it does affect the average GB prices, bumping it up and affecting future sales, since average GB prices are the base of the suggested price when submitting GB for sale.

-----------------------

Now, there was someone who came up with a -first thought- neat idea. Only, that people still be able to manipulate the prices by simply repeatedly purchasing GBs at high prices between accounts.

So it is not a good solution.

-----------------------

But wait... how do I ge the idea, that people are intentionally manipulating the GB prices?

Well, let me show you, mates!

Look at these neat screenshots I have taken of the GB sales:

GBsalespart1.jpg
GBsalespart2.jpg
GBsalespart3.jpg

Did you notice something?
Let me help you....

GBsaleswtf.gif

Reasons:
1. Nobody... I repeat... nobody will buy a GB for 2000 or 2500(!!!) a piece. Nobody. But it still affects everything. And they know this.
2. 2000SB for 1 GB has been up ever since the GB sales feature came out. Even when they were 1000SB a piece.
3. It is always the same people (note the same color individuals) putting up these prices, trying to shamelessly affect the market and raise prices. Some of these are clearly made with the sole purpose to manipulate the market, since they have absolutely nothing on their account than this GB.

If this is not manipulation of prices, then I dont know what to call it.

And thanks to them, the GB average has skyrocketed...

GBsalesaverageprice.jpg

And so the suggested price when putting up a GB, affecting the people's choices on the market, making it a dangerous manipulation.
GBsalessuggestion.jpg
GB's average price they go for isnt even close to the average prices or the suggested price range shown here and prices have been constantly growing ever since this feature was implemented. Another proof, that manipulation works.

The average price and the suggested price range for GB sales is a huge big bloated manipulated false number. Very misleading.

---------------------------------

So what do I suggest?

Nothing much.
Simply this:
GBsalessuggestionfix.jpg

And especially this:
GBsalesaveragepricefix.jpg

With these two gone, people would not be able to manipulate other people's choices in a great manner.

Other suggestions:
--------------
Being unable to resell GB we bought through the GB Sales feature in there. GBs bought there could be still resold in the TC. This is to prevent people to resell cheaply bought GBs to make a profit in other people's expense.
--------------
THIS! We need this too!
---------------------------
Thanks for reading.

The GB is someone else's and it's up to them to sell it for whatever they want. The economy is player driven and unless someone is using a glitch to affect it, I don't see a point in banning
I have made a post regarding this problem as well ^^

Which puts suggests putting a timer on the trades

It is still an intentional manipulation of assets. Especially dangerous because it affects people's market choices. It may be their GB but by putting them up for sale in the GB sales in such impossible prices, where it is apparent that their intention isnt to sell but to manipulate, then it becomes a public issue.

Maybe not ban the people but receive a warning and their prices should be removed.

I know about your idea and have featured it, since I do think it is a good one -supported it too. But it still allows manipulation of average prices. My intention is to make such manipulation as ineffective as possible.

But isn't what you are suggesting still allowing people to over price? With out the average showing or anything people can just start pricing their GB at 2000 sb? Before the average price, when this came most people looked down to see what others priced GB at an copied or lowered depending so it really isn't making a difference removing the two things, that's just my thoughts.

It wouldnt be a direct one, though.

When usually pricing GB, people dont usually look to the most expensive prices but for the moderate one, that people would still consider to purchase.

Right now, people who want to sell are slapped in the face with an unreal manipulated number, which may directly control what price they will sell it for. With the removal of average and suggested prices, the sellers will be greated by the moderate prices first, since the GB sales lists the most expensive last.

So the removal would not leave the people without prices they could base theirs off of. They would simply be affected less by the unreal number and can base it on the real average on top of the list.

Support, and also suggestion - GB sales I think should expire, like trades, but sooner, like 3-7 days. Currently, people who overprice can just set their GB for insane prices forever and just leave them there, hoping someone would buy it overpriced. If they had to re-create the trades every X amount of days, it'd be more time consuming and thus, less attractive to put GB at too high price every time.

Thank you.
Yes, I was thinking of that too. But someone else already came up with the idea. A pasted a link to their thread, though. Because I do think it is another great idea.

This is a wonderful idea! The inflation in the gb sales is driving me crazy.

Expiration might work, but lets say I have 10gb....so for the next 10 days I keep listing one at a time at 2500sb or more, it will keep the price up as long as there is always one up there.

I think the better way to do it is to have the community to vote on a price range that is permanently set. Or remove it all together.

Selling a gb in trades always worked fine before, the GB sales were created for convenience only and serves no real purpose other than to filter out gb sales from standard sales.

As it stands, Ive passed up buying many things from branches because the conversion in the GB sales was WAY too high. This morning it was around 1500sb. You watch, the 1200-1300sb standard player exchange is going to jump to 2000sb/1gb as people keep being exposed to these higher prices.

Ive been on the game 3 years and Ive seen over the past six months to a year, things you could get for 10gb raise up to 50gb in no time at all. Inflation is becoming an issue over all as the game becomes more saturated with gb and new players, but this SB/GB trade system is totally broken and disheartening.

I vote that it gets removed completely or they put a cap on the sales set by running a poll for players to choose.

I honestly don't think this would help very much, although I'm still supporting it since it's better than having false advertisement. a lot of people just undercut each other by just a few SB, regardless of the average price, so even if there wasn't an average listed it likely wouldn't have that much of an effect.

ex: if everything was bought out except for the 1600sb+ gbs then the next people who see that as the current lowest price will very likely choose to undercut that by only slightly cheaper.

I could be wrong but it looks to me most people check the lowest price on the gb sales rather than the average price.

I support this suggestion!! I think it's a small way we can begin to fix the GB sales in the Lioden community!!!! But people will just find another way around this and raise prices somehow again! People know that others will buy this GB in their times of need and they take advantage of that! And having a set limit on GB would be a harsh, but maybe necessary change to the game!! So while I'm all for this suggestion, if it is not upheld strictly enough, I don't think it will make much of a difference!! :>

The price manipulation of GB is an issue close to my heart, here (because buying GB through the market is the only way I can get GB). I hope that this would help.

Really, I think that the market needs to be watched a little closer by Mods and Admins. Not an automated thing, but someone physically going through and looking at the account activity on those with disproportionately high GB sales. If their only actions on the site are to list GB, that's suspicious, and someone might have to look into that.

*Hits the support button repeatedly*

As a user who buys their GB with SB I'm very affected by this manipulation. I cannot pay that much for just 1GB especially if you need that GB for something small. Imagine if you need to buy GB in bulk *shudders*. The prices continue to raise and therefore discouraging people of using this feature. I see a lot of trades in the Trading Center offering SB (around 1200-1400SB - how it used to be before the GB sales feature) for GB completely ignoring the GB sales feature. And I'm thinking of doing that too. The lowest GB price is currently 1700SB which is way to high. If it can't be "fixed" this feature should be removed for good.

There is an easy way to lower prices back atm. But this would be a community effort. By refusing to buy GB until prices are back to normal. Though, this feature would help a ton. Along with expiration.

If they wanted to make an SB/GB sales system, the GB/SB sales they used to have (1gb=150sb) could be changed to 1gb=1300sb and they no longer use the easily manipulated trades system they have now! Take a community poll on what everyone feels is a fair price for SB instead of a few people manipulating the market.
