Recently, Lioden staff released the 'Hunter' Role. This could be toggled either manually on the lions' pages, or you could set all your lionesses as hunters. While it is an interesting idea, only one option for roles currently exists, which is somewhat boring. So I made a masterpost of sorts to discuss possibilities for new roles.

If I list a role idea which you thought of before me but I didn't know, I will give you credit. Just let me know and I'll edit this post.

DEFENDER
As a sub-male-only role, Defenders are tasked with defending the pride from other prides who attack them for territory. Up to one sub male can be assigned the role of Defender at a time, and only males above the age of 2 can fill this spot. When other lions fight you for territory, half of their strength, agility and intelligence stats will temporarily combine with yours, giving you an advantage, however small, over the enemy. Players may prefer assigning males with higher stats to this role, as this provides a bigger boost; if you win the battle, the sub-male gets +5 stats in either strength, agility, or stamina. To prevent purposefully making your submale a tank in order to outfight the enemy, these would be randomly assigned, with a 25% chance to get assigned either intelligence or agility stats and a 50% chance to get a strength boost. However, this comes at a price. Defenders are unable to patrol the territory as a "typical" sub male could, and they gain 5-10% hunger after successfully defending your territory from outsiders.

COUNSELOR
While both males and females can fill this spot, you might want to choose wisely as submales are few and far between. Counselors can hunt, though only 5 times a day as opposed to 10, but to make up for that, they keep your pride's mood up! Each counselor offers a 5% mood 'buffer' on the rollover, lowering the average 10% energy loss to 5% or even 0%. They also offer a higher chance of lionesses without nests birthing successful cubs. You can only have up to 2 Counselors, and it costs 100 SB to assign your first and 200 SB to assign your second.

PATROLLER
Much like the Hunter role for lionesses, only sub males can be assigned this role. Each patrol offers 500 exp, and the more your submale levels up, the more squares he'll be able to patrol at once. There are 10 levels, and every other level allows him to patrol one more square: level two gives you 11 squares, level four gives you 12, level six gives you 13, etc. As many submales as you want can be assigned this role, though you have to wait 7 rollovers before you switch roles again.

GATHERER
We have hunters... why can't we have gatherers? Up to two gatherers can go with a hunting party at a time, though be warned— they take up one of the five slots each. They offer a higher chance of finding certain items while they hunt; plants, feathers, and backgrounds are common. In fact, they can have a rare chased cub encounter, where they stumble across a cub somebody chased and manage to convince it to come back to your pride! However, these are one in a million— much as you'd like them to, cubs don't exactly flood your territory.
