So, excuse me if this or something similar has been suggested in the past and I'll link to the original posting or flag this one for deletion~

SO. Mutation breeders out there -- y'all sick of dud litters, amIright? And the money wasted using the Falcon Eye to check for muties. It's wonderful that we can check to see how many cubs our girls are having, but what if... we could do an ultrasound WITH checking for mutations?

If not supported, please state why! :)

Hmm, let me see. Ah yes, this lioness is pregnant with 2 cubs, and they appear perfectly healthy. Thank you for your... beetles.

Hmm, let me see. Ah yes, this lioness is pregnant with 3 cubs. And, oh... I'm very sorry, but there seems to be something wrong with this litter. I hope all will be well.

This suggestion has 10 supports and 12 NO supports.

As a mutation breeder, after seeing this suggested a few times, I'd like to point out a few things:

Being able to check and just casually CRB the litter before it's born if there's no mutants is a pretty bad idea for the market.

Visualize: You're breeding a leopon, and you check the litter for a mutation. Bat says "Oh no mutation here, sorry"

SO, you crb the litter and get to try again in only 3 days.

Why is this bad? Instead of only getting 6-7 heats over the leopon's lifetime, you get to try as many times as needed every 3 days after fail litters.

Let's do some math. A leopon has 144 days breedable over the course of her lifetime. That' is a maximum of 48 fails one lioness could have bypassed with this if she's cotton root barked every fail litter over the course of her life. This raises the chance of her passing leopons dramatically.

It's better to leave the chance of failure there for the sake of the market, for any sort of mutant, not just leopons.

Absolutely no support from me, sorry.

Angela -- You have a very good point there, though I'd suppose I wasn't thinking about leopons in general much. Perhaps limit it's use for hybrids and/or passable mutations?

I won't go into the politics of Lioden economy, and while, yes, they would limit the appeal/price of such mutations, there will likely always be that 'one thing' people strive to breed for, be it special bases, rare markings or mutations. There was once a time when breeding a folded ears mutations was rarer than breeding a Celestial base. Things have and will always change, and for the more 'casual' player, the chance of getting something wonderful.

It makes it too easy for mutation breeders in general because it benefits all mutation breeders (not just passable mutation breeders) to reduce the cooldown between fail litters, which would make mutation breeding a lot less fun for me. Sure, I could simply avoid using the feature myself, but that wouldn't change that this would make muties a lot easier to get and less special.

This is a feature that could e taken advantage of with CRB miscarriages. Sorry but not supporting.
