I'll keep this simple and quick,

lionesses will run if a player don't have enough space, and it will lose it's training bar.
But it make no sense for it to lose it's training bar just because it ran away. We trained a lioness for so long and because we forgot we didn't put up some of the NCLs for sale we now need to pay 200SBs AND lose her entire training bar?

The lost is too much, compared to how much a regular lion worth, which is usually around 60SBs, to reclaim a low stat lion that worth around 60SBs with 200SBs is insane, and I can see people just give up reclaiming it when they find out they left an little mistake in this online web game, probably even disappointed. Then the feature of being able to reclaim a lion in 7 days after them ran away has lost it's meaning. What I'm trying to say is, if the penalty is high with little usage, then why not adjust it to let it become more useful? By keeping the lion's training bar for instance.

There are not many ways to grind SBs for a vanilla user, a user who don't usually pay real money for game currencies, whether it's because of real life reasons or simply the sense of accomplishment when they buy something with currencies they ground for a long time. One of the ways of grinding is to claim in heat NCLs with empty territory spaces and sell them each for 10SBs. Which is very little, but by doing it, we can buy luxury lions eventually, such as high stat lionesses. However, if we forgot to sell the NCLs or they haven't been sold till the next rollover, we have to not only lose 200SBs but also lose the training bar of who ever ran away?

As a vanilla user I won't give up from grinding in this way because it's an sturdy money source, admittedly a 200SBs penalty is fair for such mistake, however from game perspective a lose of the training bar is ridiculous, as the training bar has nothing to do with the mistake nor the territory space, to lose a long term hard work of training a lioness because it ran away is non sense. From RP perspective, it's not killed or injured or anything for it to lose it's training experience, it just ran away probably to find a new pride, which count as an adventure and might enable them to gain battle experience if look at it closely.

In a nutshell, to lose the training bar is non-sense, it's like eating pizza with plastic in it, it does not belong to a penalty which involves territory space. So I promote the removal of this penalty for above reasons.
