It really is, and it kind of encourages other people to spam bump too because they get bumped off so fast. Supported, it's a really annoying issue

I had no idea there were unlimited bumps allowed. I've only been bumping up my own trades once a rollover since I thought that's all you could do anyway. I personally find bumping once in a 24 hour period is perfectly acceptable, but the least would have to be maybe once every six hours imo. I think that's more than fair.

Eh, either way I support a limit, whatever it may be.

Just a note, limiting bumping would not resolve the issue, as the trades would just be deleted and re-created.

It would most likely need to be a different manner.

Would anyone really bother to keep deleting and re-making dozens of trades every few minutes though - who would have the time/motivation?

This would at least be enough deterrent to solve a lot of the current problem imo. During some events or when certain items are sought after the TC gets so clogged with repeat trades it’s impossible to find anything. I’d support a limit on duplicate trades too tbh, regardless of bumping. Maybe a max of 5-10 or smth

That’s how we bumped before actual trade bumping was a thing. I used to do it, and I guarantee it will happen if bumping has a limit put on it.

EDIT: I understand I’ve taken part in trade spamming and perhaps that weakens my opinion. I do agree it is an issue that needs to be dealt with. I’ve been using it to stay competitive, and would much rather see it gone, just want to ensure there is no work around.

In 2016, mods use to pretty actively enforce a trade limit, and you’d get told off if you had too many up on the front page. I think a rule based approach would be best. Perhaps something similar to chat, that if your trade is still visible on the first page of TC, you cannot post or bump up a second trade that is similar in nature until the first falls off. Or something similar with a two or three trade limit.

What if instead of just a cooldown on bumps, you could only create a certain number of trades a day and have a max amount of trades?

That would solve the issue of people creating new trades to bump in the tc. If there was a max allowance of, say 5 created per day, and a max of 30 trades at most people wouldn't be so quick to delete their trades and remake them.

(That would only apply to public trades though, not private ones)

imo I would like to see a coding enforced limitation rather than a rule based limitation.

I support bumping once every X amount of hours, as well as a cap on the amount of trades active at any one time - excluding private trades.

That's not a bad idea, Lex.

Maybe something like 10 a day though? With a max of 30 seems fair. That way people can't completely flood the first page.

Perhaps each trade can only get bumped say...once every...4-6 hours?

Yeah 10 seems way better tau, I tossed the 5 out just as an example. 4-6 hours seems really reasonable too, so then trades can only be bumped 4-5 times a day and definitely won't flood.

Definitely agree on the limit on bumping, frequency a day and time limited - and possibly supporting the max trade limit.

But I'm not sure on the daily limit
- Firstly, I like to synchronise lioness heats, so I have lots giving birth at the same time and therefore lots of cubs reaching 5 months at the same time; - some of these are just sold as fodder, but I tend to try to actually sell as many as I can (I can understand where a limit on similar trades could apply here, as sometimes someone will list 30+ fodder cubs in a short time frame which is pretty annoying :D)

- Secondly, what about short-term trades, trades which are very quickly bought out (like honeycombs, or some food trades), they don't tend to clog up the TC, but may not be suitable for selling in branches - basically what if in the morning I listed 10 fodder cubs that had weaned that rollover, but then before I go to bed decide to list my excess food; but can't because I listed those cubs 8 hours ago, some of which have likely sold by now.

Basically I'm supporting for limiting trade bumps, and trades which are all basically the same - but not for the daily limit suggested, but I would support, say an hourly limit with a overall max trade limit

I'd support the idea of only having say, five trades with lions up at a time, five with gb, five with sb, five with items (just an example number) on the front page, or a maximum number of trades of similar nature at a time. There's definitely an issue here, especially with valuable event items.

I support the changes Fae stated. This doesn't just effect the spammy trades, but all of them and this is the only month that I've noticed this kind of spam so why create a rule/coding for something that's going to end in 5 days.

But if it must be created then I support hourly and not daily limits. You should only be able to bump a trade once hourly and create 8 new trades every 2-4 hours.

Seeing everyones ideas and suggestions, it feels as though a longer wait time to bump a trade would be reasonable.

Right now trade bumps are at 5 minutes. An hour would give other trades plenty of time to have exposure on the front page before a new bump.
