Not sure if lions can gel their manes, BUT, I was thinking maybe you could change the way the mane would look without changing what would happen to the cubs inherited manes. This could be male only but the females with a mane mutation could use it too I guess. Maybe this could be used with some primals? It could be used to make un-natural manes like braids.

Open for suggestions!

(I only thought of this because I thought of a lion combing his mane and a lioness helping him. It was a nice thought.)

(100+ Supports?! Thank you guys!)
(150+ Supports????? SHOOK)
(200+ Supports????!?!?!??!?!?!? WOW)
(250+ Supports?!?!??!?!? we might get the mane gel soon)
(300+ Supports?????????? oh my gosh)

Ideas:
Fart (#25392):"This would be cool if it was for specific new manes that you couldn't get anywhere else. Seems like a good way to introduce "unnatural" manes that people have suggested, like braided manes. " Oooo that could work too

FirecrackerTNT (#98461) : "I think it should essentially work the exact same as contact lenses- the mane gel (snail slime, purr-haps?) can be applied to a king and you can get some pretty funky hairstyles from it, like braided manes. And, like contact lenses, it would be unpassable, and instead only have fail manes from it (ones that you can easily get with a mane changer anyways, so it wouldn't really affect any mane rarity in any way)" *nods head repeatedly" yes.

BlakeBelladerp (#101163):"Maybe there could be one to three designs that you can apply? It would take on the color of the mane, but say you get braids, curls, and tufts.
Braids could be affected by marks like Tips and Ends, Curls by everything, and Tufts by none of them. Braids and Curls could be behind the ear, next to the end of 'Classic' markings, and even near the shoulder. Tufts could affect a spot near the elbow, the ear tips, the tail, and for manes like Hellraiser, possibly even the thigh.
It should function as a decor, though, similar to Chameleon Skin or Translucent Jellyfish. Not as a cosmetic, like the Contacts or the Feast of April's Fools items. "

⚡️opi 🌙(#100335): i like it! i dont think there need to be names for each mane type though. Why not JUST call it 'braided hair' 'tufted hair' 'curly hair' for each? then again, i also dont think it should be random. i can see them as monkey business items, perhaps.

Just to explain: If you change the look of the mane like Savage, to Tufted, the mane type will NOT change, like a Lab Test Frog, except that is NOT for gender, but for mane type ONLY. This is for either cosmetic use OR as a decor, a suggestion by BlakeBelladerp (#101163).

For unrealistic manes, like braided manes etc, as Fart (#25392) said , It should work like a random marking app. It would be random and by pure luck.

I think this should be found in explore only.

If you don't support, I wanna know why! (Yes, saying even "it sounds dumb" is okay!)

This suggestion has 373 supports and 48 NO supports.

Yeah, that's basically how it works.

Maybe they could use a gross and smelly mud mixture or snail slime

I feel like this would probably defeat the rarity of mane types. If anyone could just apply a savage contact for example, it doesn't matter what mane your king has, etc etc.

Maybe make it event only? Or that you need to go to a NPC for help?

Yeah! It should be used for that reason.

Hm, I really don't see a reason for this except for visual pleasure.
You've got my support, but this isn't really much of a necessary thing. I can see where you're coming from, though.

Hm... I won't press support or no support. No support for the original suggestion, because it'd make breed-only much less special, and it's a bit unclear exactly how it'd work. But I support if it's something similar to what Fart suggested.

Here's what I suggest:

I think it should essentially work the exact same as contact lenses- the mane gel (snail slime, purr-haps?) can be applied to a king and you can get some pretty funky hairstyles from it, like braided manes. And, like contact lenses, it would be unpassable, and instead only have fail manes from it (ones that you can easily get with a mane changer anyways, so it wouldn't really affect any mane rarity in any way)

For now, I'll stay neutral.

I don't think I understand. This is what I'm reading:

Let's say you have a lion with a regal mane, you could apply this gel/snail slime/whatever, and it would change the look of the mane, give it braids or make it funky somehow, but would his mane still stay marked as regal? and when he passes on to his cubs would they also have the regal mane just without the modifications from the gel?

It would stay as regal and still be marked as regal. The look of the mane would be changed BUT the inherited mane would be the natural mane.

Thank you for explaining! C: Just for some variety I'll go ahead and support, although I will say that this would cause need for new artwork and coding and that's a lot of work so I don't know that it would ever happen in the long run, and if it didn't it wouldn't really affect anything or disappoint me personally.
