This doesn't have to replace the current night theme, as it's already pretty nice, but I'm proposing a darker colour for those with more sensitive eyes.

This theme would be in nice and neutral grey-blues/purples to keep it darker.
Another option could just be to make it a dark greyscale or something similar.
