 INTRODUCTION It is morning and the early sunrise even seems tired as it barely peeks above the rooftops in your small town. You wake up and head downstairs (as you do every morning) and eat breakfast. As you sit at your couch and watch the morning news, you hear the doorbell ring. You assume the paper boy must be early this morning, and even though you talk most mornings, you decide not to answer. A few minutes later, you hear a light knocking and once again ignore it. Pretty soon, you hear a car driving away and finally decide to get up and see what has been brought to your doorstep. You open the door and find a flyer laying on the doormat. "Ugh, another advertisement. Don't people understand how to read? There is a sign outside the neighborhood that says to not solicit," you sigh as you throw the paper into the trash. You decide it is time to head into town for coffee, so you go get dressed and head out the door. As soon as you get into town, you head down to the coffee shop on the end of the street. However, something seems to grab your interest. In front of the local store, a rather frail man dressed up in a 1600-1700's costume is yelling to a small crowd of people. You wonder what on earth brought such a crazy looking guy to your small town. "Come one, come all and witness the beasts of the past! You all may have heard of beasts like the Loch Ness Moster and Big Foot, but have you ever seen or heard of the rare Salem Water Dragon? You all wonder why so many people in Salem were persecuted as witches? It was not only because of their so called 'suspicious activity' but also because these beasts were seen around them. Once thought to be creatures of the devil, they were hunted out and thought to be extinct. Pretty soon, they became a myth to the public, just another scary tale. However, decades of ignorance have allowed them to resurge, and today I have brought one with me as proof! Witness this," he says as he wheels around a large cage. He pulls off the brown blanket covering the bars and soon a dark creature with piercing green eyes makes eye contact WITH YOU. It freezes out of fear and looks around slightly before backing in the corner and hisses. You cannot help but to feel bad for this poor creature, so scared of the man and the crowd. But there is something about the look that it gave you that draws you in, like you could feel how it was feeling in that moment. "Now you have seen this monster and you may be in shock, trust me, so was I the first time I saw it. However, these creatures may be of benefit to us and we are in search of people to go catch them for us. We believe that they are quite intelligent and can be trained as guardians," the man continues, "but the problem is that these big guys seem to have to choose their person. We have been trying to sell these to the elite wealthy people but they have all been sent back because of complaints of attacking masters, mauling furniture, you know...but they are now overpopulating Salem again! We need to get them under control, so that is where you all come in. Join us in taming these beasts so that they can have a purpose instead of being a pest or beast to be hunted. We did bring a few with us if you are interested in just purchasing them (but remember, all sales are final, NO RETURNS)," he says very fast under his breath, "or you can join the expedition to tame one yourself straight from the wild!!" Here we have an interactive adopt where you can either buy some precaptured SWD's or go out exploring for your own. Before we get to the adopts, we do have a few rules. RULES: 1. Please only bid what you have (if bidding on an auction premade). 2. If the explore slots are filled, please wait until the next go-around to sign up! I will try to make sure that everyone gets an explore spot eventually. (To help this, each user is allowed to explore ONCE a week). New slots reopen every week!! 3. The dragon with the most stats gets 4/10 chance of winning, second most gets 3/10 chance, while the remaining 3 have a 1/10 chance to win. This week's major stat will be speed! He pulls out a map and shoves it into your hands. “Happy trails friend,” he says, “hope you don’t get eaten alive!!!” Explore the Forest - PRICE: 700 SB There are dense woods in these parts. If you plan on going in here you might wanna bring a light since the sun doesn’t shine through the leaves overhead! Everyone in town stays away from the forest since it is eerily quiet and bones of other animals surround the forest edge. Explore the Coast - PRICE: 1 GB/ 1200 SB Want a more beachy destination? So do the dragons! Many beach goers report swimming dragons in the waters and have seen them attack beach toys. Just watch your toes and fingers if you decide to go wading out in the water. Explore the Abandoned Church - PRICE: 1 GB 500 SB Now this place can really give you the shivers. Town legend says that this church is where the first accused witches were executed (history would say otherwise, but the dragons survived so....) Explore the Cave - PRICE: 2 GB A little ways past the forest lays a cave. Old explorers report that it goes back at least a quarter mile and has many chambers. Breeding Thread SWD’s can be bred! Pairings can be done between any combination (male x female, male x male, or female x female). Often times, multiple dragons are produced per breeding! There are only a LIMITED number of breeding slots and they may not always be open. I will always post when they are though!! If a male or female does not belong to you, you must get written permission from one or both owners to do the breeding! Otherwise I cannot allow the breeding to occur. Breeding can only occur through FERTILE individuals. If you get a dragon that is infertile, you can buy some Holy Water from the shop to make them fertile! (This will be rolled upon creation, it will not be common to be infertile). Stats will also be rolled on a scale from one to ten. The Salem Shop You walk into the local shop the strange man was yelling outside. As you open the door, the bell on the top of the doorframe rings and a short, stocky shopkeeper rushes out. “Why hello there,” she exclaims in a thick Scottish accent, “What are you looking for? The kind man outside gave me a bunch of things for those lovely creatures outside. I assume that is why you are here? Thought about getting one myself...but that’s beside the point. Here, why don’t I just give you a store tour!!” Uh oh...now you are in for it. Sardines Price: 1 GB (or 1200 SB) The sardine has been found to be a favorite treat among the water dragons. In fact, it increases your chances of bringing home more than one water dragon if used on an expedition!! Witch Hazel Price: 300 SB Witch hazel has been used in many breeding tests. Turns out parents who take it give birth to all female offspring! Juniper Berries Price: 300 SB Juniper berries have also been tested in breeding trials. This has the opposite effect as witch hazel and gives off all male offspring! Holy Water Price: 350 SB Holy Water can be used to turn an infertile individual fertile! Rainbow Essence Price: 500 SB The rainwater that falls while a rainbow is present can be used to change the base color or marking color of the SWD! The user can tell the dragon which color it will turn and the new color will appear like magic! Paint Brush Price: 400 SB Paint brush can be used to add markings to your water dragons. Frog Legs Price: 200 SB Frog legs can be fed to a water dragon to increase ONE STAT of choice by 2 points! Watermelon Price: 1 GB (or 1200 SB) The watermelon is known to help your dragon's fertility skyrocket and guarantees at least 4 dragonlings per litter! Awesome! I will mark that down. @Lae yūrei You walk through the open field toward the old abandoned church. The air is very still and the clouds above seem to hang darkly above you as far as you can see. Around you, tall grasses that extend just above your hip blow gently as a sudden yet short breeze courses through. You shiver at its coldness, yet continue to walk. As soon as you approach the church, you notice that it is much larger than you had anticipated it would be when you were farther back. Off to your left (about 20 feet from the church), you see something rustling in the grasses that quickly darts through a decent sized hole dung into the underside of the church. What do you do? A. Follow the shape into the hole. I am pretty sure I can fit! B. Ehh, I don't want to get dirty. I think I will stick with the front door. C. @Lae yūrei Upon seeing the shape go into the hole, you decide to waste no time...who knows? The front door may be locked, and you do not want to let this thing get away too easy! You sprint up to the hole on the side and can almost fit through! You get about halfway in and then have to dig some debris out of the way before you are able to fully pull yourself into the building. Once inside, you stand up and brush yourself off. You look around. In front of you, there are rows of seats that lead up to the alter on the far side of the church. Around you (and surrounding all the other sides excluding the door) are piles of boxes covered in dirty blankets. There is also a hole in the roof that allows some light to enter the building, but overall it is pretty dark in here. You look for the creature, but do not sense any movement. It must be hiding somewhere... A. Inspect the rows of chairs. B. Check out the alter. C. Look through the boxes. 0 players like this post! Like? |

You are astounded by how many boxes are in here! There must be at least a hundred surrounding the walls! Carefully you remove the blankets from the first pile of boxes to avoid making too much dust fly off. Inside the first box, you see many bibles that appear to be centuries old. You pick one up and flip through the yellowed pages - and there appears to be some writing inside along with some somewhat scribbled out drawings. You raise the page close to your face and notice the handwriting is in some foreign language, maybe Latin? You don't really know since it is not similar to anything you have ever studied or seen. You look to the scribbled out drawing, which has been decently covered, but can make out the shape of a sketched out water dragon the guy from your town brought in! You wonder if maybe he was right about witches keeping these...creatures...around. You cover the box back up and open another to find some very ornate rosaries! Some of these appear to be made out of gold and silver, and they all have precious gemstones hanging from them! You lift one that catches your eye. This one has a beautiful gold chain and has gorgeous rubies hanging from it. When you raise it to the light, red dots of reflected light scatter through the building. Out of the corner of your eyes, you see some eyes glowing from the shadows. They seem to be fixated on the light coming from the gemstones. A. Shake the rosary and try to scatter the light. Maybe it will come out?? B. Bring the rosary back down - the light might make it attack me. C. Toss the rosary toward the creature. Maybe if it is interested in it I can toss more and make a trail leading to me. 0 players like this post! Like? |

You shake the rosary vigorously and watch the lights scatter around the room. The creature slumps out from behind the boxes it was hiding behind, but remains in the shadows. You can now see its outline standing on the box pile, its head moving rigidly as it tries to follow the many lights around with its eyes. It looks like it doesn't know which one to go after, there are so many options! You see it start to crouch, its butt sticking straight up in the air and its tails wiggling slowly above like it is about to pounce! A. Hold the lights still! B. Move the lights slower, I know it will chase them if he has more motivation! C. Throw the rosary into the middle of the room - the light is brightest here! 0 players like this post! Like? |
