This has been suggested already, I'm sure, but I wasn't able to find anything akin to it within quite a few thread pages so I'll take the chance.

We really just need dated tier unlocks already. The current system is inefficient.

It would take the stress off the community that does struggle to open the bars for everyone (just an all around unfair approach tbh) and the staff for altering and monitoring the bars and then deciding to manually open them anyways every. single. time.

Most people don't take opening the tiers seriously anyways, since history has taught us that the bars will be opened for us regardless. Staff shot themselves in the foot on that one.

This process has repeated itself on Lioden for YEARS now.

I think it's time to either cave in to the date-unlock system, or for the staff to create a completely different tier unlocking approach.

For example, we are 16 days into the August event as I type this--halfway through the month--and tier one is only at 59% (good bar) and 77% (evil bar).

Now there are the usual posts going up in chatter of people worried the tiers won't ever open, pushing for people to explore more as they do. Which even if a handful do, it's not nearly enough.

The current system is outdated, and simply not working.

Example of a date-unlock system:

5th of the month - tier 1
15th - tier 2
25th - tier 3
Any other tiers - at staff discretion

Essentially like event story unlocks.

The thing is, if the community wanted to we can open the tiers insanely quickly, even before the dates. I feel like there'd still be a bar, but if it isn't open by day X, the shop opens.

A new system would eliminate policing the bars and coding the numbers to change entirely. Why have bars like this when the % needed to change them is just going to be altered, or they're going to be opened anyways? It's redundant.

Like I said, people don't try to open the bars seriously because staff has been opening them manually anyways for years. It's to be expected now.

From what I've seen, if there's something everyone wants, there's a rapid push. There has even been a few times where admins increased bars because they thought we were unlocking them too fast.
It CAN happen, I've seen it plenty of times. My gripe with date-set shops is hard to explain. Working as a community was kinda a big part of the event, y'know? It's apon US to get what WE want, and we shouldn't have to rely on admin interference.
To me there's an obvious solution, and that's lowering the amount of points needed, not manually opening the shops late into the month. The bars are not the problem, it's the goal they're set at. There's no need for set-dates if they were just lowered to something more reasonable

My problem, and I know I mentioned it in said aformentioned thread that exists and I can't find either atm is events exactly like this one. There IS something the vast majority want. The Peddlar and his buffy balls.

Well the Peddlar is opened by collecting his currency, the majority of which is earned in event encounters by picking the "good" option.

This leaves people that want the Maneater studs behind because no "good" option, of course, is killing a human.

And yeah, sure, there are lots of things that can be fixed about that specifically, but there are also issues with other events too that can be fixed with this one single change. Instead of recoding every event independently.
