I'm back again!

Remember me?

My suggestion got accepted. But it was not in the way I wanted it.
This is a loong post!

Here's a direct quote from my lovely friend Winwin:

"In 500 cubs you can get about 3 Kimanjano cubs, making the rate 0.4-0.6%, and for mandarin it's 1 in 500, making it 0.2%"

Here's another comment from the lovely Sivert;

Kima male x non pon Kima female

100 scrys - Set 1:
Kimanjano - 0 - Special
Dinar - 6 - Rare
Fulvous - 6 - Rare
Asali - Not Possible
Anubis - Not Possible

100 scrys - Set 2:
Kimanjano - 1 - Special
Dinar - 8 - Rare
Fulvous - 14 - Rare
Asali - Not Possible
Anubis - Not Possible

100 scrys - Set 3:
Kimanjano - 0 - Special
Dinar - 7 - Rare
Fulvous - 11 - Rare
Asali - Not Possible
Anubis - Not Possible

100 scrys - Set 4:
Kimanjano - 1 - Special
Dinar - 12 - Rare
Fulvous - 10 - Rare
Asali - Not Possible
Anubis - Not Possible

100 scrys - Set 5:
Kimanjano - 1 - Special
Dinar - 11 - Rare
Fulvous - 5 - Rare
Asali - Not Possible
Anubis - Not Possible

Total Pass Rate: 3/500 = 0.6%

Mandarin male x Non tigon Mandarin

100 scrys - Set 1:
Mandarin - 0 - Special
Nacarat - 11 - Rare

Non-Medium base specials/rares:
Champagne - 3 - Rare
Fulvous - 3 - Rare
Dinar - 3 - Rare

100 scrys - Set 2:
Mandarin - 0 - Special
Nacarat - 9 - Rare

Non-Medium base specials/rares:
Champagne - 5 - Rare
Fulvous - 5 - Rare
Dinar - 5 - Rare

100 scrys - Set 3:
Mandarin - 0 - Special
Nacarat - 10 - Rare

Non-Medium base specials/rares:
Champagne - 4 - Rare
Fulvous - 3 - Rare
Dinar - 3 - Rare

100 scrys - Set 4:
Mandarin - 1 - Special
Nacarat - 15 - Rare

Non-Medium base specials/rares:
Champagne - 5 - Rare
Fulvous - 3 - Rare
Dinar - 2 - Rare

100 scrys - Set 5:
Mandarin - 0 - Special
Nacarat - 9 - Rare

Non-Medium base specials/rares:
Champagne - 1 - Rare
Fulvous - 2 - Rare
Dinar - 3 - Rare

Total Mandarin pass rate: 1/500 = 0.2%

These results were taken after the official May News post supposedly doubling the hybrid base pass rates.

This is absolutely ridiculous.
BRING IT BACK TO IT'S PREVIOUS PASS RATE! BEFORE THE UPDATE. BACK TO NORMAL.

We're all sick and tired of this base NEVER passing!
I LITERALLY got rid of my Kiman king because of this bullshit. SO DID WINWIN.
To be clear: I want it to be passable. It has to be atleast possible even once per a king's lifetime without a Hybrid.

I Modboxed this once, before my suggestion. I was told:
"It's not guaranteed that you will get a Kimanjano cub in X amount of breedings, if that makes sense!"
They told me Crunchy Worm was the most efficient way. I don't think that's fair. It should be atleast high enough to pass without Hybrids/Items.

Bring Mandarin and Kimanjano back to their previous pass rates. BEFORE THE UPDATE. NONE OF THAT IMPOSSIBLE 1 IN 500 TRIES BULLSHIT. ACTUAL passrates.

Please. Just. I love this base so much. I'm so frustrated that I can never breed it on my own. I got my first and only Kimanjano through Crunchy Worm and it didn't even pass. Ever.

Let me know what you think.

Less than 1% is not a real pass rate. Less than 1% is a kick in the teeth.

Literally no one who understands the passrate wants this. There is no reason for this to be other than bad game design.

It took years for the amount of Kimanjano studs to even reach 100, and now there are fewer because no one bothers with a base that's literally designed not to pass without a 30GB item.

? I dont think this is true. Ive bred manadrin like 3 times without actually caring to.
I bred to a Mandarin base like 10 times... If that.
So idk

Now the leopon base though I never got to pass. So I understand that one

Crunchy worms are 30gb??? Damn I got ripped off selling mine lol. Nut they are in actober event! :)

Support.
One year, four kiman kings, and over 500 cubs later and I still haven’t produced a single Kiman cub.

I bred one with a crunchy worm.
It sucks.

I keep hearing rumors of jaglions. If they add jaglions before they add any sort of balanced, competent, fair passrate for what was once the most popular gold onsite then I'm livid.

No matter whether or not they actually have any sort of plans in future years, these bases NEED to be fixed, for god's sake. No one wants nor cares for these passrates nor thinks that they're fair whatsoever. I honestly don't intend to be rude, but who let that passrate adjustment through? Who thought doubling it from 0.1% to 0.2% or whatever would fix it? Who thought they should be impossible compared to even bases like Pearl just because? As if there are a bunch of firstgen leopons to spread the base everywhere? What kind of game design is this? What's the reasoning behind doing this other than to create artificial scarcity because no one wants to breed these bases since they're impossible to breed?

Support.
I don't have any hybrids nor would I likely go after this base as I prefer Black bases but why even bother going through the time and effort that it takes to add a base into the game - a breeding sim - if your players can't realistically.. breed the base?
I understand hybrid bases having a lower pass rate than usual to keep them "special" but making it so nonexistent does the opposite; why would players seek the base out if it isn't going to pass on to cubs anyway?
Not to mention that hybrid bases aren't honestly terribly special despite where they come from - Maziwa & Doubloon look very similar to Kimanjano & Mandarin, Doubloon being a common base you can apply to any lion of your choice for 5gb and Maziwa being an NCL base that can be obtained for literally nothing other than a bit of time. Maziwa even has the exact same genetics as Mandarin so I really don't see the justification for it having a pass rate that, realistically, doesn't exist.

Medium special bases need to be fixed. I support totally, not only for Kim. and Mand. but ALL bases where the pass rate is stupidly impossible.

Medium specials that all pass at around 3% based on scries aren't comparable to 0.2%.

"There is no reason for this to be other than bad game design."

It really is.

Don't get me wrong, I like Lioden, and I appreciate the work put into the game, but I'm convinced they have no idea how to balance bases and markings at all. I'm not saying I'd magically do better overnight, but it is bad. I don't even know how the hybrid-base pass rate is acceptable at all. Medium bases are already unacceptable at ~2-3%. How, and WHY, did they think making a base EVEN HARDER TO GET than those was a good idea?

A lot of combo bases are stupid too. Can't some of them ONLY be bred during a SINGLE MONTH? Doesn't Pulsar only pass during July, even if one of the parents is Pulsar outside of July? Why can't combo bases pass themselves? Can't they only pass if the OTHER parent is a factor base? ?????

edit: holy shit doing tests again has made me realize how many bases in the game that are essentially trash. do we really need 7 different "fail" bases that look almost the same? do we REALLY need cream, cream darker, and cream lighter still? it made sense in the early days of lioden, but it's just clutter at this point

The change was garbage and nothing other than blatant ignorance of the pass rate. Either that or the devs were attempting to make it sound good when they "doubled the pass rate" in this news post after initially lowering it. Double of .5% is still only 1%.

I'll just leave this here too:

Copying my results from the Fix Kima/Mandarin pass rate suggestion thread.

In a scry between this kima male and this non pon kima female my results for special/rare bases in Gold Dark Countershaded is as follows:

100 scrys - Set 1:
Kimanjano - 0 - Special
Dinar - 6 - Rare
Fulvous - 6 - Rare
Asali - Not Possible
Anubis - Not Possible

100 scrys - Set 2:
Kimanjano - 1 - Special
Dinar - 8 - Rare
Fulvous - 14 - Rare
Asali - Not Possible
Anubis - Not Possible

100 scrys - Set 3:
Kimanjano - 0 - Special
Dinar - 7 - Rare
Fulvous - 11 - Rare
Asali - Not Possible
Anubis - Not Possible

100 scrys - Set 4:
Kimanjano - 1 - Special
Dinar - 12 - Rare
Fulvous - 10 - Rare
Asali - Not Possible
Anubis - Not Possible

100 scrys - Set 5:
Kimanjano - 1 - Special
Dinar - 11 - Rare
Fulvous - 5 - Rare
Asali - Not Possible
Anubis - Not Possible

Total Pass Rate: 3/500 = 0.6%

In a scry between this mandarin male and this non tigon mandarin female my results for special/rare bases is as follows:

Nacarat - 11 - Rare

Non-Medium base specials/rares:

Fulvous - 3 - Rare
Dinar - 3 - Rare

100 scrys - Set 2:
Mandarin - 0 - Special
Nacarat - 9 - Rare

Non-Medium base specials/rares:

Fulvous - 5 - Rare
Dinar - 5 - Rare

100 scrys - Set 3:

I joined recently and absolutely adore this game, but this passing rate seems absolutely ridiculous. Having such a terribly low pass rate completely takes away from the bases' attraction. It gives me no incentive to go out and attempt to get the base, with the knowledge that I could breed hundreds of lions and maybe get one cub with the base if i'm lucky.

The fact that at one point the passing rate was supposedly .5%? How was that even acceptable.
