Years ago, the Dragonborn defeated Alduin and saved all of Skyrim, and possibly all of Tamriel.
Harnessing the voice, Alduin was killed.
But that wasn't the last threat Skyrim would face.

As the years went on, Skyrim went about as normal. Lives were born, and lives were lost. Holds changed not and cities grew substantially. Jarls died, and new reigns came. And so, it was not expected to hear the call of the Greybeards once more, summoning someone to High Hrothgar. Was a new Dragonborn risen? Was another Plight coming, like the legend of Alduin?

The days passed quietly. Nothing was heard. Nothing was disturbed. Then a chant came, roaring overheard in the sky, a message from the greybeards.

"When the moon shatters,
and the sky runs black,
the ones baring fangs and claws,
will come from above
and wreak havoc,
the one in the cloak
will be the only hope."

On the first day following, the moon runs red and casts Skyrim in a eerie glow of crimson light. Soon, people begin to realize, the Sun has not risen yet - and days pass, the moon not moving once from its crest.

On the fourth day, a noise so loud it is inaudible claps overhead - and the landscape is drenched in darkness save for the light from torches, fires, spells, and lanterns.

On the tenth day, the sun finally returns to the disheveled Skyrim - but in the form of a crescent, and rages so bright it is blinding.

On the twentieth day, all returns to normal. But there is an eerie chill in the air, and while it seems normal, it is not.

People pop up in cities estranged, slowly turning insane. Murders spread through out Skyrim, gruesome and foul.

Political issues arise. Gordf Stormcloak, High King of Skyrim and great-grandson of Ulfric Stormcloak resigns from his throne and hands it to his Steward, Vitomir Brokenstorm. He is found in his townhouse, dead and hanging by a noose. An apparent suicide. His note reads, "he made me do it." Speculation arises he was under the influence of magic, but High King Vitomir quiets these rumors almost.. too quickly. Word arises the High King is... not to be trusted.

Markarth is closed off from the public.

Not all is normal. It is far from normal.
