From what I've noticed it's breed only features that are 'desirable' right now.
I wouldn't personally keep lions simply for a breed only eye color, such as groupies can have since opal saltlicks exist edit: and are fairly cheap.

Hyena is liked by some people but I would say the majority no. It's hard to tell because things change and everyone likes different things.

Hi! :D I think it all depends on everyone's tastes while one thing may be SUPER popular right now (like having a male with a crested mane let me just say ridiculous) it may not be in say a month. Some people REALLY love rosettes (I have a friend who has been given several from me and they range in types).

As for manes currently crested is over the top on value but normally a breed only mane is more popular however again everyones tastes are different and its hard to pin point what is most popular at any given time.

Eyes are the windows to the soul just kidding I find that some breed only eyes that can be found on groupies right now especially are really popular but some people don't care that much for them seeing as they are a small part of such a big design now don't get me wrong sometimes the eyes can pull together the whole thing but sometimes the lion is just to snazzy for his own good for his eyes to matter.

Markings are same as everything else while some people may like color bombs others go for a more natural approach so its hard to say what marks are worthy and what marks aren't.

Well I can't say anything about hyena blots because never heard of them but I can say that a design where one marking especially stands out may not be as popular as something thats a bit more blended together.

All of this is based on what I've seen/noticed on my years on LD. Been playing since 2013 and I barely got my main king to go out of slots completely let me tell you I have NEVER been more excited and angry at the same time. :P Sorry if it doesn't really help. Also you should look for a post that has a lions pricing guide I know I saw one a while back maybe that could help you?

The pricing guides are great, but they rely on you knowing what markings are actually worth looking up in TC! And for me, I literally.. know nothing about markings. There's just so many of them I don't even know where to begin.

So follow up question, is there a list of those breed only markings and and manes?

Also how do you guys make friends.. like, I give away a bunch of stuff and try to talk in main but no one would ever look at a lion and be like "Draco would really like that" XD. Maybe that's selfish of me.

For friends I actually just sent people messages. XD Find a reason to talk to someone. I have a friend that I'm actually friends on FB with and we've been friends for a good couple of years now. I used to get messages all the time but most of my friends aren't really on anymore and I haven't really gone looking for new ones. Find some people that share your interests maybe? Whether it be art, RP's a certain event whatever it may be. I also would like Roxanne said find clans and strike up some conversations in there! :D

As for the markings I believe any marks that are tier 3 unless they are from an applicator of some kind are the breed only marks but Roxanne is right check the Wiki. :D
