I'm gonna keep this short and sweet, but basically I've noticed that all the basic/special/NCL eyes and some applicator eyes are so flat and lifeless. I get they're supposed to be basic, but they definitely make some lions look googly eyed.

Most of the recent eyes being made (event eyes like grape, apricot, banana and eyes like arid .ect) are all shaded similarly to mist, which is a pretty popular applicator eye color. I personally love arid and mist because of their wonderful shading and depth.

ANYWAY
I completely remade every single eye color NCL through Special (not breed only or applicator *yet*) to have the nice shading!

Obviously not all of them are perfect, but you get the idea ^^ I'd also be personally willing to help staff with the recolors if its chosen to be overhauled.

I rather like this idea, I think an update to shading would be a good Idea...since so much is being updated....maybe

i like the concept but no support, sorry. if every eye color has shading, then they're no longer unique. the great thing about apricot, arid, dawn, maroon, and mist is that they're unique thanks to the shading, which helps make them desirable. adding shading to basic colors would give no incentive to breed for (or apply) nicer-looking eyes, because there wouldn't be nicer-looking eyes anymore, they'd all look the same thanks to shading. basic, rolled/ncl eyes shouldn't have the same depth as breed-only/rare applicable eye colors.

I could see shading to basic and shine to the more in-demand colors....just a suggestion

Divine,

I can see what you mean by that reasoning, but there there still *would* be incentive. I say this because while yes, the shading was inspired by mist/apricot/arid .ect, when you go to the base color of those eyes, they're significantly more detailed with shading and highlighting than I did with the basic colors. Adding a tiny bit of shading to the tops of eyes to make them look like theyre sitting in the lions skull rather than sticking out doesn't take away the fact that they're a basic color like solid pink. Colors like mist and dawn have various gradient colors, deeper shading and highlighting.

My concept is to just spruce up the colors so theyre less of an eyesore for those who enjoy the color and want variety while looking decent. The idea that some colors are unique doesn't have to be placed solely on shading and can chock up to be the actual color that's unique, that's my point. Some rare applicable colors are just as bad with being flat as well though ^^ I just hadn't had time to work on those colors for my concept example.

Mist, and Dawn in particular are a dime a dozen already in all honesty. But I appreciate the feedback ^^

Gonna have to say I'm neutral on this. The reshaded eyes look wonderful, but they also seem a bit... murky? In that Original VS Reshaded example, I can clearly tell the difference between the original brown and blue heterochromia at a distance, while I have to really lean in and get a good look at the eyes with the reshaded version. This could honestly just be because of my own poor vision, but I can also imagine it would make differentiating colors a bit more difficult on devices that aren't on full brightness.

I won't say no support because I do think that maybe some of these could be implemented as variants of the original versions (specifically the basic and non-exclusive NCL eyes) but I don't support the idea of the eyes being implemented as a complete overhaul.

I totally understand your issue with the darkening of the eyes. These are obviously not what I expect to see as the total finished overhaul, but I threw the shading together quick (I made a grey base with shading and overlayed the colors over for my sanity sake for examples.) I didnt want to post without ANYTHING to show for it, so I threw something quick together.

Should it come down to this actually being implemented, and if they do ask for my help, I'd take time to make sure each was perfect and not on the same shading base- as colors require different shading to stand out from each other.

I do appreciate the feedback a lot!
