So for the past week I've had some toruble with the site, pages slow to load anythings, be it images or lists, it is SLOW, even getting stuck on the first option of the dropdown list when I've chosen a different option. It even has trouble with writing! I'm writing this post right now and it gets stuck in a word for about a couple seconds before loading anything else I've typed. This has lead to some minor issues, sending the wrong Sub Male to patrol, feeding the wrong food item, clicking on the wrong link, stuff like that, but it is specially torublesome when exploring since it gets stuck quite often and sometimes I miss fights that I wanna have because it got stuck loading it so I click again and miss the encounter. It is kind of getting on my nerves.

I'm having this problem on my computer using different explorers and on mobile device as well, even while being conected to different networks, so I know its not a problem on my end. Furthermore, I'm only having this issue with THIS site, which leads me to believe this is a problem with the site's servers? And if that's the case, I'm surpriced nobody else has complained about it at this point. Please, I would like to have some confirmation of this potential issue, I'm thinking maybe opening Wolvden has caused some unexpected burden on the servers maybe, but if this is not the case, I would appreciate it even more if you could provide a possible solutions for this issue.

As Lioden and Wolvden are on completely separate servers they have no impact upon each other, so I can at least confirm that that is not the issue. If both sites are slow, then it's likely a network connectivity issue somewhere between your internet service provider and the server host (located in Arizona, USA). Currently there are no network issues that we can see from our end.

That being said, the problems that you describe sound more like device issues. Typing a post is not dependent on the speed of the server, as it is completely client-side until you actually submit the post. Likewise for selecting options in a dropdown; this is all client side, and once a page is loaded any lag or slowness on the server would not affect the display of options in a dropdown.

As this has just started recently for you, it may be due to updates to your browser(s) or devices. May I ask what devices and browsers you are using?

The connectivity lag can definitely be attributed to an issue between your location and the server host. Even when connecting through different ISPs, there is always a chance that there is an issue at a hub that those providers all connect to. There are only so many major Internet backbones that exist and the chances are high that the ISPs you are attempting to use share one at some point in the connection.

DragCave is hosted in California from what I can tell, meaning it would have a different path to take between its host and your ISP, versus your ISP and Lioden's host. In the case of Reddit, they use a network of servers distributed globally due to its scale (via Amazon Web Services last I knew), so they have a pretty good response time.

The issues with the typing that you describe can only be caused by the client, and are a separate issue from general connection lag. My recommendation in that case would be to try clearing your cookies and site data/cache and see if that helps at all.

I've been having some parts of this problem, I can't explore at all, which is disappointing, and I can't do that, and I'm waiting for a rollover or something which might make it better, but I don't know, so I'm just waiting for now :(

Thank you for clarifying the servers part, I was worried I would not be able to use Wolvden when it becomes public, thats good news at least.

I seriously doubt it's an issue with browser or internet connection. As I stated, I tried connecting to different networks, each of a different ISP and the result is the same. I used different browsers on different devices and still the same issue. I gotta clarify that I only opened my account on one browser for my computer and one for my mobile. I use Firefox for my computer and Google Chrome on mobile.

I did use Google Chrome and even Edge (poor choice I admit, but it was for confirmation) to check the site for these lags in loading I mentioned, and the issue still continued, even using different computers and networks. I repeat, the lagging issues and the more surprising text lag issue are only present IN HERE. I tried using Dragon Cave forums, simultaneously and I could write there without issue, but had trouble in here. I checked on high traffic sites such as reddit and others to see if the text lag presented there as well, but it didn't, so I'm positive its not an issue on my end. Gotta clarify though, the text lag is not always occurring, right now I'm having no trouble with writing this message, and I'm using several programs and different web pages are open, so again, this confirms its not an issue of my computer.

I'd like to add the site is specially slow on mobile, I even had to enable the "computer version" (something like that) for it to work decently on my mobile.

To add on to my previous post regarding connectivity, you can check your connection to a server by doing the following:

  1. Open a command prompt using one of the following methods:
    • Press Win+R, type cmd, then click "Ok" or press Enter
    • Open start menu, type cmd and click on "Command Prompt"
  2. type tracert lioden.com and hit Enter

You can see where in the chain the connection starts slowing down by looking at the hops where the number of "ms" starts increasing. When I run that command from the server to your IP address, I can see several hops that are quite slow. Likely because they take a path I wouldn't have expected. You can look up the IP addresses of the hops to see where they are located.

OK, I can try that. However, that doesn't quite explain me what the issue is? Would you mind explaining this further? Because yeah I can understand how the slow connection could create an issue, but, why would it only occur here? As I said, I tried using different sites at hte same time and do the same thing, this to confirm if it was an issue with my computer, but it only occurs HERE, even while having several sites open, the only one presenting issues is LioDen, so if it was a connection problem, I would have it on every single site and that's not the case.

Connections between sites vary. Most of the larger sites utilize distributed networks with servers all over the globe (e.g., Reddit, Facebook, Amazon, etc.). These try to connect you to the closest possible server. With sites like Lioden that only have one front end server, it all depends on where that single server is located.

With your example of Dragcave above, its server is located in California (from what I can tell).

For whatever reason, when your ISP is trying to connect you to Lioden, its path is taking it from your location, to Brazil, to Spain, and then to Texas, before arriving in Arizona.

I'm not sure why it's hopping across the ocean like that, it's just the path that your ISP is taking to get to Lioden's server.

If you run tracert against various site URLs, you can see where your connection is going -- you can look up the IP addresses by plugging it into a site like iplocation.net to find out their general physical region.

If this was an issue with Lioden's server or connection itself, it would be affecting everyone.

I see, Well, that actually explains this issue, on one connection, but not on all. So, what would be your explanation for it to happen on 3 different networks?

As stated before, the chances are high that the ISPs you are attempting to use share a common hub at some point in the connection, meaning they would all be trying to follow the same route from that hub onward.

Again, if it was affecting Lioden's connection it would be affecting all players. If it was your home connection, it would be affecting all sites you visit. Therefore it's an issue somewhere in the middle.

I see. Does sound quite curious (for lack of a better word) that all the networks I connect to do try to connect using the same hub. But given your explanation and my experience, it does seem to be the only logic reason for this to be occurring. At least I can rest assured it's not my pc. Thank you.
