Hi! I'm new to Lioden and I've been looking for a replacement for my first king in order to properly get into breeding, haven't started yet because I'd only get ugly cubs from my first lol. I bought a dirty heir on accident by not checking his heritage properly, and I'm a bit confused on the value of the whole clean vs dirty thing.

My question is, how important is it to breed cleanly? I've gathered that it decreases the price/value of the cubs, but is that amount significant? Are there any other downsides to it? I'd really hate to sell him but it'd take the fun out of breeding if the cubs would only sell for tiny amounts or something compared to if they were clean haha :,)

Here he is https://www.lioden.com/lion.php?id=794158184212

Edit: btw, does anyone know what I should price him at if I decide to sell? I got him for 4 gb I think

Personally, I am just here to breed pretty lions. I don't give a darn whether they are clean or dirty. It's all about the markings for me. I will not pay more for a clean lion. They are just pixels and clean vs. dirty has no in-game effect. If a player wants to keep their pride clean as a personal challenge, kudos to them, but but all I care about is having a lion with the right markings. The cub market is over-saturated anyway and there isn't much price difference. Good cubs don't sell for very much at all these days. I just kill or abandon all my cubs at this point because the TC is such a hassle.

Honestly, I think your boy is king-worthy. What matters most is how much YOU like him. If you think he'd make pretty cubs, go for it. If he gets any patches cubs, someone will buy them whether they are clean or dirty. You'll get buyers.

As already said, there is no in-game effect for dirty versus clean. It might affect the market a bit, but that's purely because of player demand.

I personally haven't noticed a huge price increase/decrease for breeding clean versus dirty outside of specific instances. Most clean breeders won't buy dirty but those that don't care will buy them either way.

A lot of cubs won't sell for a very high price, regardless, unless they have specific type/number of markings, bases, or mutations.
Mutated lions tend to sell for more despite their heritage in my experience. I've sold both clean and dirty patches/piebald cubs for the same price, it really just depends on the buyer. :)

Honestly, if you are going to sell him, I'd list him for the same amount that you bought him for so you break even, at least.

At the end of the day, though, what matters most is if you like him. Heritage can always be replaced down the road if you're really set on him being clean, but it really doesn't matter in the long run as long as you're happy with him. ♥

I once had a king that sold out almost ever single week. I didn't really like him much after a certain point. So I rerolled him. Made a few people mad at me but I wasn't enjoying him so there wasn't a point in keeping him.

as someone who is a clean breeder, i say yes it is important. nothing sucks more than finding a really pretty lion and seeing they are dirty. however, a large majority of people don't care about inbreeding. if you want to have a better chance of getting studs, and be 100% sure your lions will appeal to everyone to have a higher chance of getting more out of them, i would go for having a clean king instead of dirty.
