What is polycoria? Polycoria is an eye condition that causes two or more pupils in the iris. It can be congenital or diagnosed later in life. It can also cause abnormally long eyelashes and poor vision, as seen in my mock-up below. How would it function? The exact same as blindness, as an overlay over the eye genetics. The lion would not be able to hunt, patrol, or be kinged, but they would still be able to have cubs and pass on their mutation. I suppose this mut could also be obtained by CRB. What would flavor text look like? Polycoria can be congenital or diagnosed later in life, however I have chosen to present this mutation as one visible from birth. Although it would also work as an AMP. Birth: [CUB NAME] squirms in the opposite direction from [HIS/HER]'s mother's belly. Silly cub! 1 Month: [CUB NAME]'s mother looks worried, so you walk over. She points to [CUB NAME]'s eyes and you gasp. [CUB NAME]'s eyes are malformed and have multiple pupils! 2 Months: [CUB NAME] seems to be doing just fine, despite [HIS/HER]'s poor vision. Unfortunately, [HE/SHE] will never be able to hunt or patrol. 2 Months - Death: You and [LION NAME] are taking a walk together and chatting, but [HE/SHE] bump into a very large, obvious rock. [HE/SHE] laughs it off and the both of you continue. [LION NAME] accidentally walks into thorn patch. Ouch! You check on them a few hours later and they're fine, just sore! [ADDING MORE SOON, SUGGESTIONS WELCOME!] Does this actually happen in real life? Yes! Below the spoiler are some real images of animals and humans with polycoria. VIEWER DISCRETION ADVISED! Do you support this? Why or why not? Critique and suggestions welcome! |

no support, only because I don't feel it should be a mutation. I really like the idea and would like to see it in-game but I feel it would be better as an eye applicator/type. since it's basically the same mutation as blindness but with a different a eye type I don't see it being added as a mutation. 2 players like this post! I fully support this! I think it's a really neat idea and polycoria is also just really pretty. The one thing that might be an issue is how it would work with eye colors. I'm not very knowledgeable on how all the different layers that come together to make a lions appearance, but it would probably prove difficult to pull off. Unlike with the blindness mutation, lions with polycoria would still have their iris so the mutation would probably have to work with what's already there. The pupils aren't a separate layer as far as I'm aware so likely only the second mockup would work if we wanted eye colors to work as normal. Not sure if what I'm saying makes sense but hopefully it does. 1 player likes this post! Like? |

I don't support this for two reasons. - Firstly, making it so that they can't be kinged is silly, this mutation can be totally non-impactful in real life; it depends on the severity. Also going by the logic of it impacting gameplay, there's multiple eye colours in the game where if science was applied they would be blind, with fully dilated pupils etc. - Secondly, I think the mutation wouldn't be overly visible/add to the aesthetic of lions and would be covered too easily or be tricky to spot. It feels like a lot to lose for something so little with similar things already in the game. 1 player likes this post! Like? |

Support but I would only see this as a mutation that has no gameplay value and is kinda like a cosmetic mutation if that makes sense. 0 players like this post! Like? |
