So as a person with hypersomnia. I think it would be cool to have it in lioden, some of this is from personal experience psa. I don't know if something like this has been suggested but I'd like to see something like it!

Hypersomnia is a mental illness that causes excessive sleeping. Depending on the severity you can at random times lose strength in your muscles, this is known as cataplexy. I personally experience this along with dizziness when standing up. A lion could experience sleep drunkenness too, not sure how this would show, but i think it could be flavor text! also animals can have the same sleep problems as humans^^
Hypersomnia isn't necessarily lethal. But without treatment it could put you at risk! For example, you could be driving and have a hypersomnia attack, leading to a car crash. Along with loss of muscle tone. Although cataplexy is usually caused by extreme emotions.
A lion with this mutation would have a stat nerf, saying there asleep all the time^^ id also say no to broodmother and maybe hunting? I'm not too sure on those. And they couldn't be kinged
I'm not too sure if this mutation would be lethal. Saying in lions it could be dangerous if they have a hypersomnia attack. I think this mutation could show with a lion having drooping eyes? Or lying down/ sleeping. I'm not too great with this but here's some flavor text ideas? For lethal/ non lethal

[3-4 months] cub sleeps more than eating. There becoming more skinny from the lack of food
[5-6] The cub seems to have a hard time moving after it wakes up. Along with picking things up and speaking
[7-8] cub has stopped participating in activities. It sleeps more often now
[death?] The cub went with a lioness for hunting, but it never returned. It seems it fell asleep somewhere.
[next roll over] cub hasn't returned yet. To assume the worst they've died.
i think a different death could be starving? person experience it has almost happened to me before so something like
[death] cub has passed away in its sleep due to lack of food
