Just a place to keep things organised (copy and pasted).

Some terminology:

Background information: Following a successful escape of the cruel warren Efrafa, Thistle headed North-west, wondering tirelessly out of fear of being found. She travelled through what seemed to be endless pastures, tracks and roads before arriving just west of Nutley Copse.

The grass was fresh and it was a somewhat safe distance away from her previous warren, so she risked digging herself a scrape for the night.

The next morning she was met by some curious rabbits undertaking a patrol, who seemed more concerned for her health than suspicious, and she was welcomed into their nearby warren. There, she tended to her many scruffs and found some true friends, making this a place she could call home and safely deliver a lone kit...

Sunbathing under the warmth of Frith, the white spotted doe observed leisurely as the lot of her warren went on about their day silflaying with one another or watching over their young as they bounded around the wild flower spotted field. The weather had been particularly wet and rainy over the past few evenings, keeping bucks and does from leaving the burrows where they were safe from the weather. Aside from those who patrol of course, but even they complained of the chill once they returned. So it seemed that everyone was making the most of the day in case they were expecting more rain. She, too, couldn’t help but enjoy the warmth that Frith brought them that fine day.

Eventually getting to her paws, Soft padded over to a doe that she’d grown rather fond of. “Thistle! Hello,” She greeted happily with the flick of her ears. Soft’s dual colored eyes looked around briefly in search of Thistle’s son- she entertained the thought of her and Bluebell being good friends. Though she wasn’t entirely sure how he felt on the idea. The speckled doe had always noticed how the elders of the warren always turned their muzzles up at the sight of him, murmuring about how someday he’ll bring bad luck upon them. Soft never understood the reasoning for such mean things, she found Bluebell to be quite the character.

Firth was really warming up Thistle's back, to the point it grew uncomfortable on the patches that lacked fur. She didn't mind, the taste of the dew coated grass was enough to distract her. It was a luxury she would always be grateful for, unlike some rabbits in the warren (like her son) who often fought over the 'best' patches of flay. Oh the joys of being young, she was far from what she was, once young and carefree, now battered and tired. In fact, some rabbits seemed to go out of their way to avoid her, as if she had The White Blindness. Well, she certainly looked the part.

Thistle barely picked up the sounds of Soft approaching. She often found she let her guard down more often as she no longer had much need to fear her own species. She looked up, her chipped ears twitching, and let out a little hum as she finished chewing on a lush chunk of grass. "Hello dear!" She started and moved aside to share a patch of fresh grass with her. She had always admired how well Soft kept her fur maintained... unlike Bluebell who had probably rolled in a ditch by now. "Enjoying the weather? It's certainly an improvement." She smiled as Soft sat with her.

Soft couldn’t help but let out a small laugh, “I am! I hope it remains this way for some time,” The young doe hummed in reply, “Though, I must admit that the rain makes flay here just a little bit better… in my opinion,” Soft added thoughtfully. Settling into the spot that the mother had been so kind to leave her, she leaned down to take a few of her own mouthfuls of the rich patch of grass. As much as she disliked the rather sodden weather, Soft knew very well that it kept flay plentiful. The warren had encountered rather barren summers in which flay to feed every mouth had grown sparse from the lack of rain, so she was thankful despite the occasional complaints. The distant chatter and laughter had Soft’s rounded ears on a swivel. Not out of fear, rather curiosity.

“Did you hear what Nettle saw on patrol the other night?” The spotted doe asked, looking at her with curious eyes. Soft awaited Thistle’s reply before she went on with the topic, “A wanderer! But Nettle said that the wanderer refused to join us, said something about how he was in search of something,” She explained, “Never specified what though,” Soft said in a rather pensive tone. “I don’t think they’ve seen the wanderer since that night,” She noted. Soft was always excited by the mere thought of adventure, despite the fact that it wasn’t her adventure, she was quite delighted to hear about a wanderer that had been discovered near the warren. Soft figured he likely had the coolest stories to tell.

Thistle stopped chewing and listened, pleasantly surprised at Soft's way of creating a conversation that needed little input from included parties. But the direction of the conversation threw her off. She sat up as her eyes drifted blankly, she spotted Bluebell, tangled in some bramble vines, but that was the least of her worries. A wanderer? Of course it would be exiting news for the warren and young excitable minds, but for Thistle it was cause of concern. Surely the Efrafan Rabbits wouldn't pursue her after all this time. She wasn't that important.

Soft certainly seemed excited about the news, being an adventurous spirit seemed to fuel her interest in the topic. Hopefully she wouldn't become a wander herself, a warren is so much safer, if a rabbit is in the right one that is. "Odd." She started, trying not to let worry leak into her tone. "You don't hear of wandering rabbits often, it's dangerous afterall, to be on the move." She said, thinking back to her time travelling and the constant paranoia and fear that there was something watching, waiting, just behind a bush line. "What he's searching for must be really important." She said in an undertone. "Did Nettle say what he looked like, in good health?" She asked, her tone of voice hopefully conveying authentic sounding concern. The Efrafan Rabbits often looked similar, especially the bucks, often larger, well built and with scars that told a story.

Soft hummed in thought at Thistle’s words, “I suppose it is pretty dangerous to be without a warren, I once heard someone say that there’s safety in numbers,” She agreed with a subtle nod to herself. Soft would never admit it to anyone to avoid putting unnecessary suspicion on herself, but the thought of leaving the warren to explore everything that Frith himself touched had crossed her busy mind on multiple occasions. She just knew that there was so much more to see than what her Warren had to offer. Soft yearned for something new and exciting, and she certainly wasn’t getting that from where she stood. Though, Thistle’s words truthfully put an fearful itch of the potential dangers that were roped along with the new and exciting possibilities that she desperately wanted to explore.

When the older doe spoke again, Soft was pulled from her thoughts as she listened attentively. “Hmm…” Soft hummed as she attempted to remember the details of what Nettle had told them, “Oh! He didn’t say if he was in good health, but he called him a scary fellow with the beady eyes of a corva,” She said in reply to Thistle’s inquiry, “Whatever that entails… but it really just sounds like he was trying to scare kits that were up past their bedtime,” Soft added with genuine honesty. The spotted doe noted the rather indistinct fretful emotion that was written on Thistle’s face, but decided she wouldn’t pry.

Thistle listened patiently, watching Soft's expression. Oh, she knew that look all too well, many does in Efrafa had that look when they gazed out at the horizon, imagining a world where they could explore and run. It seemed Soft wanted an adventure as well, despite the dangers, but it wasn't Thistle's place to try and change her mind. Thistle's ear perked up as she continued. 'Beady eyes of a Corva', Thistle hadn't ever heard such a description before. Perhaps Nettle was a storyteller? "Ah well, if he was trying to scare the kits (fair enough) it might not have been the most accurate description." Thistle laughed calming down slightly, but still with some doubts, as Bluebell hopped over to them, panting. "Lost a fight to the brambles?" Thistle teased, to which he let out an unconvincing 'pfft'.

"Worth it- Hello." He added towards Soft, perhaps a little rushed, but not trying to sound rude. "There were some nice clovers behind them." He added as he sat down with them, he needed the good flay to put on some weight and hopefully join the Owsla. Or at least he thought he did, he was already reasonably big. As he caught his breath he noticed how nice the Doe's fur was and the nice sheen it had under the sun. He became faintly aware of how messy his was, fur shooting all over the place with small specks of who-knows-what tangled in his fur. He didn't see spotted rabbits around often, but he was sure he'd seen her around before. "Soft right?" He asked, trying to slow his panting, looking past her twitching nose and into her lovely eyes.

“Perhaps! But maybe it’s not too terrible of a thing to appear as scary as Nettle described him as,” Soft said with some thought, “I certainly wouldn’t want to mess with a rabbit if that’s what he looked like…” The doe reasoned with a laugh. Just the thought of a rabbit with Corva eyes could make her shudder a bit, it certainly does sound like something a storyteller would create to spook those who were listening to their narratives. Soft was often found listening to a storyteller when she was a kit, the chronicles seemed to fuel her adventurous fire that continues to burn within her. Perhaps one day, the young doe will find the courage to seek what she’s always yearned for. But for now, Soft will remain within the comforts and safety of her warren, surrounded by those she’s familiar with.

Soft couldn’t help but snort a laugh at the interaction between the mother and her son. She’d lost her mother some winters ago, she’d fallen ill and was never able to recover- which ultimately led to her demise. “That’s right,” The spotted doe replied politely, “You must be Bluebell?” She asked, though she already knew the answer. The young buck was a thing of gossip among the warren. There were does that were simply smitten with Bluebell and others tend to be more wary of him due to the nasty things that the old rabbits say about him. Though, Soft wrote such things off as silly rubbish… that the old rabbits were just bored. Bluebell didn’t seem to be such bad luck like they claimed, he was just another rabbit trying to survive. Just like everyone else within the warren. Soft would certainly argue that he and his mother certainly didn’t deserve to be treated differently than the others.

Bluebell nodded as she spoke, glad he'd gotten her name right. It's happened too many times where he'd gotten some rabbits name wrong, the older ones especially seemed irritated my it. "Yup, that's me!" He responded to her query and scratched some needles out of his fur with his hind legs. He had half expected her to call him Hraka like some other grumpy rabbits in the warren, but this doe was clearly one of the kinder ones. "And I couldn't help but over hear your little conversation-" He started, trying to pat down some of his fur as he spoke in a optimistic attempt to look more presentable.

"While you fought with the brambles?" Thistle started slyly, casting Soft a playful look as if to ask her if she believed any of that nonsense.

"I have good ears." He scoffed, he often had to eavesdrop to get some news from the patrols as they tended to keep things private. He flicked his ears and heard some rabbit call Thistle a Hlessi. "Do you how long that wanderer was traveling for?" He asked, trying not to linger on the offensive terms some rabbits throw at them.

The spotted doe met Thistle’s eyes with a rather humorous expression, though her attention was drawn back to Bluebell as he spoke again. Ultimately proving that he did in fact overhear their conversation while he battled with the brambles. “I can’t say that I do,” Soft replied to the scruffy buck, slightly dissatisfied that she didn’t have an answer to give him. “Nettle said that the wanderer was quite… private with everything that was asked of him,” She explained with the flick of her ears, “Not only was he scary, but he was secretive too! I wonder if the wanderer was secretive to keep himself safe, or if he’s someone that we, as in the warren, should be suspicious of,” She rambled on, just allowing her thoughts to form into sentences on her tongue.

“I suppose we could always ask Nettle for more details,” Soft hummed in thought, “He’s always more willing to tell us about their discoveries than the others that patrol.” It was almost as if Nettle wanted to tell the warren what they find, the buck is always so quick to spill. Soft had always wished that she could partake in patrolling but she’d have to be apart of The Owsla, and she didn’t think she would ever be considered to be apart of that considering she’s a doe.

Bluebell grew strangely excited as he listened to her. A strange rabbit, wandering the world, was interesting enough, but one with secrets was a goldmine to fuel his curiosity! "A secretive rabbit." He thought aloud, not unusual, at least from what one sees from the older rabbits in the warren. "I can't think of much a rabbit would want to hide, well, other than personal affairs." Bluebell nodded as Soft suggested seeing Nettle. That would certainly be a good idea, not just to fill in more gaps in this story, but also to suck up to a member of the Owsla. It wouldn't hurt Bluebell's chances of joining if he had a friend on the inside. Then again, the Owsla often have him a cold shoulder which often made him question if he even wanted to join the Owsla.

"Sounds like a plan." Bluebell nodded, he was pretty sure Nettle was one of the more sociable bucks in the Owsla, at least to the does. "Though I wouldn't know where to find him at this time." He added, looking around. Maybe he was on patrol, but he could very well be overseeing a tunnel or just resting in the Owsla den. Perhaps Soft would know, she seems to be fimilar with him already.

----.The young doe hummed aloud in thought, “Perhaps he’d killed a rabbit!” She joked, but Soft found her eyes looking around briefly with the hopes that no one else heard her rather loud quip. “Well-“ She began sheepishly, “I sure hope not.” Murder was quite frowned upon, understandably of course, and she didn’t realize how insensitive it was of her to make such a potentially crude joke to her warren mates until after she’d let it out. Clearing her throat and straightening her posture, Soft let out a gentle sigh at Bluebell’s statement. “Hm… I don’t exactly know either, but I think I could guess,” She replied with a knowing tone. After giving Thistle a kind farewell, the spotted doe found her footing and hopped to the Owsla’s den rather hastily.

Soft was certainly a social doe, she often got around and spoke with everyone at the warren if her company was welcomed by the other parties. “Nettle!” Soft called as she barged into the den quite loudly. After the second exclamation, a larger rabbit with a dark coated appeared to investigate the shouting. “Ah Nettle!” She greeted, looking behind her with bright eyes to ensure that Bluebell had followed, “We were hoping you could tell us about that wanderer?” She asked in a rather buttered voice with the slightest tilt of her head.

Soft seemed to look a little guilty after that quip, although it was nowhere as bad as the 'jokes' some other rabbits make on occasion. Bluebell could scarcely imagine rabbits harming one another to that extent. Little bites were exchanged in the warren on occasion, especially between bucks during marlao (mating time), but nothing extreme. Bluebell bid Thistle goodbye as Soft hopped off and was quick to follow. Soon enough they were in the tunnels, his eyes were rather slow to adjust to the sudden lighting change and he almost bumbled into a young buck. "Oop, apologies." He started before hurrying after Soft who weaved through the tunnels with grace.

He did hesitate entering the Owsla den however, it seemed a bit rude, but Soft's confident calls seemed seemed to coax him in. As the dark coloured rabbit wondered over he bowed his head in respect. "Morning." He greeted, not quite sure on how to gain the rabbits favour just yet. Bluebell nodded along with Soft's words, he was sure they'd learn at least a little more about the wanderer, perhaps Nettle even knew which direction he headed of in... "If you're not busy that is." He added onto Soft's statement with a smile.

The spotted doe took note of the way Bluebell dipped his head to the older buck as he approached the pair. Soft didn’t quite understand the gesture, as a free spirit she didn’t find it in her beliefs to bow to any rabbit, just simply respect them, so she neglected to partake in committing such gestures. Though, to each their own she figured. Soft looked over to listen to the young buck as he spoke, adding to her statement. “That’s right,” She said rather quickly with a smile that matched Bluebell’s, “If you’re not busy!” Soft added, her blue and brown tones eyes finding Nettle’s as she awaited his response.

The Owsla rabbit hummed in thought, ears perking and eyes brightening as it seemed an answer hit him. “Ah, well…” Nettle began, though he only started to aimlessly ramble on about the patrol from the night they’d cross paths with the wanderer. To which, Soft quietly huffed and puffed from where she sat- luckily Nettle was too deep into his story to hear her rather stultified reactions. “That’s very interesting Nettle!” Soft said in a sham chipper voice, interrupting his ongoing sentences. She looked from Nettle to Bluebell briefly to gauge how he was feeling after Nettle’s bore of a story telling ramble. “Do you perhaps remember the way the wanderer had went?” The doe asked, head tilted ever so slightly.

Dear Frith! This rabbit made being in the Owsla sound boring! There were no Elil jumping out at him after every turn, the action packed patrols Bluebell often imagined seemed to be no more than daily chores. Bluebell didn't understand how Nettle could have made his patrol sound more boring and drawn out. Or perhaps that's just how they are? He vaguely registered Soft's dissatisfied huffs from the corners of his eyes and could understand her attitude, his own ears slowly drooped during the mundane monologue Nettle was presenting. At this rate, they wouldn't be leaving till noon.

After Soft's interruption, he barely kept himself from rolling his eyes. Yes. Very interesting. He glanced over at her and gave her a sheepish smile, though if the older buck weren't looking, he would have rolled his eyes. He glanced over at the buck expectantly as Soft asked a question and Nettle was all to ready to reply. "Ah can't say for sure, he was mainly looking around you know. Walked a few steps in one direction, stood up, looked around, picked another direction and so on. Might say he was in a bit of a hurry... Maybe East?" He said in a suggestive tone. "I wouldn't have been surprised if he changed direction again." He added in a joking manner. Great! Bluebell thought, now they could leave! But when Nettle started to speak again, his hopeful thoughts of departing anytime soon, vanished.

Mainly looking around? Perhaps the stranger had gotten himself lost. Though Soft thought back to her talk with Thistle, how the older doe had mentioned the importance of whatever it was he was in search of, surely he wouldn’t have gotten lost if this thing was so important to have gone looking for it. As it seemed Nettle was coming to an end about the details of the wanderer’s whereabouts, Soft opened her mouth to express her thanks. Though Nettle began to speak again, the spotted doe could only cringe internally and pray to Frith that the dark coated rabbit was only going to bid the pair a good rest of their day. “Ah he was a big buck,” Nettle began, averting his gaze seemingly in thought, “He reminded me an awful lot of those terrible Owslafa bucks! All those nasty scars and mysterious attitude,” He rambled on. His gaze finding them again, “Oh, don’t let me put that in your head… You two get outta here and enjoy the weather,” Nettle said with an enthusiastic laugh.

“Right, you too Nettle!” Soft said rather quickly, turning tail and speeding out of the tunnels. Her eyes squinted at Frith bore down on her rather sensitive dual colored eyes. “Owslafa?” She repeated as Bluebell came into sight, keeping her voice at nearly a whisper, “Isn’t that the Efrafa Owsla?” Soft let out an unconvinced huff, “Surely the stranger was not an Efrafa rabbit,” She said, “What would they be doing here? Stealing does? They have enough!” Soft added in a joking manner. Though she couldn’t help but worry that Nettle’s silly comments were true.
