Extinction: Chasing Myths is an 18+ community due to content that consist of the following:

- Graphic depictions of violence and gore consistent with apocalyptic-type stories.
- Topics of religion in both a positive and negative light, both with a tendency to lean toward extremist views. Religious trauma is expected to make an appearance among characters.
- Characters may be subject to "recruitment" into a cult, which requires abandoning your true identity to become a part of a greater whole. The cult is "worshipped" as a safe haven due to outsiders being unaware of how it functions.
- Adult themes and strong language.
- Cannibalism, both from the Ghouls (zombies) and potentially among survivors.

More warnings may be added as they come around.

This server falls into a 312 on a server rating on the RPG rating guide. To clarify; we allow swearing and other adult language, mild sexual references and innuendos, and violence is permitted with set limitations. We draw a hard line at topics of pedophilia, nonconsensual adult interactions, self-harm or suicide, and the misrepresentation of illnesses both mental and physical. While not currently deemed necessary to list due to not being expected, we do have some issues we simply will not allow to be portrayed within the group.

Extinction: Chasing Myths is a story following the expanse of The Severed Vale, a place where canines and felines of many different species once lived in relative peace under the guidance of The Goddesses; Ikaldir, Okaris, Neomerilis, and Evaris.

This peace lasted for centuries, until an ambitious cult with the goal to bind these goddesses and harness their abilities rose. After a ritual gone wrong, the four were furious. Ikaldir, a vengeful woman, cursed the group to teach them a lesson for daring to strive for a control above their station as mortal creatures.

The group began writhing in pain, skin rotting away while they were still alive. This excrutiating ordeal lasted only a moment, but for the offenders felt as though it lasted hours. The group would go on to become the first of Ikaldir's Ghouls, and mark the end of a peaceful century.

No longer in control of their own minds, knowing only the desperate need to eat and satisfy a never ending hunger, these creatures spread through the land. They ate everywhere they went, transforming the remains of those not entirely eaten into Ghouls like themselves. This spread like a plague, crumbling the civilizations in a matter of months.

Survivors scattered, traveling alone or in small groups in fear of inviting these Ghouls to them with the mass of large cities like before.

The Children of Evaris rose from the hysteria, claiming the Goddess resented Ikaldir for her actions; she would protect them. They became a beacon of hope for many, and a source of suspicion for some.

One hundred years later, The Children still thrive as a central community, their ways unknown by those beyond their walls. Lakeside Ruins, another community, settled in the ruins of one of the old civilizations. This group is led by a survivor of The Children, an escaped initiate that had not yet gone through their rite of passage, who preaches that The Children of Evaris are the enemy, not the safe haven they claim to be.

Ghouls still roam the Vale, and tensions are steadily rising.

Location
While there is no exact location due to this being a made up world, it is based on the United States in terms of geography and playable species.

Admins are senior staff, or those brought on as an admin from the beginning, and have the most responsibilities next to the owner. They have all of the responsibilities from community leader to moderator, as well as their own outlined below.

Deal kicks and bans as is necessary
Monitor in roleplay event threads and give rewards following completion
Train new moderators
Approve/Decline small group applications
Keep allegiances and rank availability up to date

Moderators are the default staff role, but no less important than the higher staff. They have the same responsibilities as community leaders and a couple of their own, but don’t need to stay on top of as much as the other staff. All responsibilities are divided up so it doesn’t become too much for one person, and if needed jobs can be delegated to specific people to make sure nothing gets overwhelming.

Accept/Decline character sheets
Accept/Decline pending verifications
Moderate chat rooms
Deal mutes as necessary

because i somehow forgot to include this:

This roleplay is semi-lit to lit, striving to achieve quality over quantity. We do, however, have a soft minimum of 200 words. This is not heavily enforced, as we do understand burn out happens and longer responses may be impossible at the time, but to keep the story moving it is recommended you are able to write at least a paragraph (5-7 sentences/100-200 words).
