I was wondering if people had any tips for drawing lions, especially lion heads/manes. I've been trying to draw lions for a while, but they never quite look right, and I'm not sure what's messing it up. Some examples here:    1 player likes this post! Like? |

Have you tried breaking down the shapes in photographs? In my experience, simplifying the shapes of animals is a massive help in understanding their anatomy. Personally, I trace the image (or images, in most cases) that I am using as the anatomy reference, as it's easier to visualise it that way. It may also be helpful to study domestic cats, as they share a lot of physical characteristics. I would do it for you, but it's 3 am and I ought to sleep.
