Xavrinthan Grysalvi, a lavender scaled dragon with living ice crystals in his scales, was waiting for his fight in the vivarium of the ancient colosseum, ignoring the hungry pleas of the chimeras, behemoths, and other beasts often put to assail the gladiators in the arena for the entertainment of numerous dragons, regardless of whether they were patricians, plebians, or the seediest of criminals. Xavrinthan was a proud general in the armies of the Suberian Empire, holding the title of Tesserarius, or third in command of a legion. He was a stalwart figure that many of the legionaries under his command were starstruck and enamored with, as they appreciated his wise leadership, as it was often this that led to the greatest of victories on the battlefield with the most minimal of losses for the legions. From this came Xavrinthan's greatest and noblest desire. Leading a kingdom of his own. He wished to lead a vassal kingdom of the Suberian Empire where though he'd be making more military campaigns to claim more territory for the Empire, he'd be able to allow the common plebian to see his wise leadership. But sadly, he lacked the funds to make such a dream a reality. So as a pastime, he occasionally fought in Neptune's Colossus, the most honored and successful of the colosseums in the Empire, dedicated to the Roman god Neptune, to earn extra money... 1 player likes this post! Viper sat, waiting for her chance to go out and fight in the arena. She lashed her barbed tail around impatiently and dug her talons into the ground. Viper was an experienced gladiator and warrior, and used to be an OutClaw in the Scorpion Den, where sand dragons like her lived. She left her home because she never had any family there, and decided to find somewhere else. She never found a real home to stay in, but she liked to stay in the colloseum, where she knew she belonged. Viper stood up as another dragon padded over to her. He opened the gate that led to the arena, and flicked his tail, motioning for her to go. She nodded, a small dip of her head, and padded out into the arena. 0 players like this post! Like? |

As the two events happened, with neither opponent aware of the other, another match was going on in the colosseum, a recreation of a great aerial battle from centuries past in the history of the Suberian Empire. As the gate opened, Viper saw a recreation of the Battle of Lostruesht, a famous battle about the Empire's victory. She didn't know much about the Empire and its' battles and victories, but she knew the basics. The orator of the colosseum, Quintus Varius Servillius, calmed down the crowd as they delighted in the performance of the Empire's first victory, the orator's speaking a success as they ceased throwing crowns of laurels, flowers, and sacks of coins at the gladiator performers. "We have a special treat for you today aside from this wonderous performance of the battle of Lostruesht, people of all walks of life in our dear Empire. We have for your delight and pleasure a dragoness of a faraway land, known to her denizens as Pyrrhia. She has steeled herself for many days to fight here in our grand colossus of Neptune, and her starting bout will no doubt please you all! Patricians and plebians of Suberia, I give you, hailing from the Scorpion's Den of Pyrrhia, Viper the SandWing!"
