So, I think we all know that the giving tree can only hold so many items at once. And sometimes, it gets backed up a little. In some cases, I've found that players deleting their accounts end up dumping their entire hoard to the tree- which leads to a huge backlog of junk. Everyone wants something cool, cool stuff is showing up, there's 15 torn fur scars that are just stewing for hours and even days in some cases. So I was thinking- what if a new method was added where if an item was on the front page of the tree and readily claimable for over an hour, it would auto-delete itself? Or, at each hour, the top page would "shuffle" and random items from the queue would be put on the front tree page. What do y'all think? If you don't support, I'd like to know why :)

I think it would be better if the front page shuffled, and not deleted but more something like every 30 minutes so its more constant

I think this would be helpful for many to be able to see more than just a set of junk, rotation and clearing could help people enjoy the tree more and get to see a variety of things, and an hour or so is more than enough time to grab an item so I support

Yes!! I feel like this would be very beneficial to the site & possibly some lag.

I love this idea, but i definitely feel like it opens it up to coding errors and bad gateways if you attempt to grab just as a shuffle is happening it and may cause issues on the backend. This isn’t a super common occurrence anyway.

not to mention the amount of work that would have to go into coding it that might just not make it worth it, and take site devs away from more important projects going on

#327512 I agree in some sense, I only said deletion because I feel like after an hour of an item not being claimed its probably pretty clear that the item is unwanted by pretty much everyone- so low-tier items like scars and purple starlings that are so common that most people wouldn't miss all that much

#456574 the problem with the deletion thing is, if a pretty valuable/wanted item has not had a rotation yet and is obviously still unclaimed, it can get deleted!

#327512 you can indeed already sell scars, many people just dump them though. Whether it’s to troll those yelling about the tree, or because they just want to put them there, we’ll never know.

#312694 I mean, I could be wrong, but in my experience high-tier stuff like lion meats, black stallions, and even generally nicer decors like clean lakes and such get snapped up pretty quick. but I do see how there could be a chance of that problem occurring

#312694 ah, I see. in terms of the deletion route, I meant stuff that was on the front page of the tree for over an hour. so people had the option to claim it, but everyone chose not to

i think something similar to the way another site called Chicken Smoothie ran their pound could be an interesting thought!

all donated items hang out in the pound for a bit, and then randomly, 3-6 times a day, it opens up and members can see whats available. you have 30 seconds with your set of a few randomly selected items, and once that 30 seconds is up, you can request to see a new set of random items.

this way, nothing of value would be at risk of getting removed as it would be likely for it to be one of the randomly shown items. anything that sits for too long would get deleted (for lioden, it would make the most sense for things to be removed at roll over).

this would be a TON of coding i imagine, so i'm not sure how probable it is to be implemented into lioden
