Hello!

Although I am a new player, I have came up with an idea that must interest the developers and players of this site! Not only will it create revenue but it could also potentially help save a lion's life. It is also always a great idea to be involved with advocacy organizations as a great way for "free" PR.

I love lions. I am sure whoever joins this game - most likely loves lions, also! So why not donate a small percentage of proceeds to a non-profit organization that helps to conserve their environment and stop illegal hunting? Of course this is a new game and I understand that it takes a lot of money and skill to start a new game, but I think donating 1% of proceeds to begin with is not too detrimental to the net profit. It may also encourage potential new players that are on the fence to spend their $10 to say, "Hey, this is a great game and they're also donating some of my proceeds to a good cause. Why shouldn't I join!?"

Once the game enters a beta stage or even now, you could create special items to generate some revenue for the organization. Say - a special item that 50% of the proceeds would go to the organization and the other 50% to the game. The item would only be available for a limited time - so that "specialness" of the item would be more encouragement for a player to spend money. Possibly, you could even do this for a special tag or reputation that could be posted to a player's territory.

Obviously with any organization you are donating too.. one must research their mission and make sure they are putting their ideologies into action!

I found a few reputable organizations..

Advocacy and humanitarianism is what I do for a living, so I would be glad to help you if you choose to do so. And please, everyone feel welcome to post their ideas and opinions on this idea! Love all you alphas!

Best,
Estelle

Support :)
Maybe have some items at a lower donation tier as well, so even if you dont have a lot, you can donate. Then a middle tier and a high tier, with the quality of the effect of the item going up as the tiers go up.

I'd say this should be more up to the developers discression.

Most of these games aren't just a hobby for somebody. Sometimes running a sim site is your income. It's what pays the bills. Sometimes the sim owners aren't making enough to support themselves as it is, and giving up money to donations can be iffy.

I've seen this cause huge drama on other sites. Khimeros is a good example. People had an absolute fit and attacked staff over not giving 100% of the proceeds earned during that time to a relief organization, because they had several-hundred-dollar (maybe even over $1000) server fees, employee payments, etc. that had to be paid before they'd be able to donate. Never mind that they donated a very large amount. It wasn't enough that they were helping, they were expected to give everything they had to it. This fight was so dramatic that staff was wary of EVER holding such a thing again.

Sometimes "Free PR" turns out to be "Hate group." It's a beautiful idea when you think about donating to an organization, but not everyone sees it that way. MANY people thinks that all proceeds from a pet site should go back into a site, or think that if the owners profit from it at all, that they're being selfish slobs. There's a lot of negative opinions that work against staff during times like these. In this case "1% of proceeds" could be heavily criticized, especially considering I don't wager Lioden is rich. Most pet sim sites don't make a huge amount of excess money (counting what it takes to employ coders/admins to begin with).

Some pet site communities are different, but I just think everyone should be aware of the 'dangers' of holding such events, too. An item that'd give 50/50 might work better, but it could still have the same aggressive activity as events seen on other sites.

I personally love the idea of donating to a cause. I tend to donate to Big Cat Rescue, but I just don't want the staff jumping head first into something and realizing later that it may've been a huge mistake. I like to hope such incidents wouldn't repeat themselves here, it just makes me wary. If they did hold such an event, I'd definitely participate, though.
