It recently came to my attention via chat that mutations do not currently inherit via breeding; in other words, mutated lions do not have an increased chance of passing down mutations. Genetically speaking, this does not make sense for some mutations, in which the cause is genetics rather than gestational conditions/events (IE conjoined twins and many other fatal mutations). I think there should be a chance of being able to pass down certain mutations, such as Achromia, especially when two Achromias are bred together.

I suggest for there to be a 10% chance normally, and a 15% chance when bred with a lion that has the same mutation. Although less realistic, this would (hopefully) prevent a flood of mutations.

If this percentage is too high, a 5% base and 8% chance for mut x mut could work.

~

Just to clarify, this would be for genetic mutations, not deformities. However, I think most of the deformities are also the lethal conditions, so it should apply to most, if not all, non-lethal mutations.

This suggestion has 306 supports and 3 NO supports.

Hmm I dunno because like said what if there were a flood of mutations?

But I do like the mutation breeding with another mutation (same) getting that mutation (:

I honestly feel that's a way too high rate, especially how low the percentage of first gen muts are. Mutxnormal 1 in 10 cubs have the mut, means lioness can produce 4+ mut cubs in a lifetime :/ Around 6 for a mutxmut.

That's why i suggested a relatively low percentage chance. I think it should only be for things that are truly genetic mutations, not simply deformities, as that makes most sense. If the percentages I suggested are still too high, maybe a 5% (8% when increased) chance is better?

I would support with 5/8% increases.

I support...I think genetically lions would be predisposed to some if not all this if it ran in the parents genes...I'm not saying it would have to up the chance a lot, it could be like het eyes, but I think breeding 2 mutts should up the chance of getting a mutt with the mutt varying between what the parent has...so maybe 5% when one mutt parent is put to a non mutt and maybe 8 or 10 % chance when two mutts are bred. and maybe make it to where if a non mutt to mutt is crossed they get a slightly higher chance of getting the mutt parents mutation but are still open to all the others since they have the non mutt parent. And maybe make any mutations gained from a mutt to mutt cross be one of the two parents mututations?

I also think that some of the deformities should have a higher chance of showing up when inbreeding occurs as this happens in real life. We had an elderly neighbor have several cats dumped out at their farm that all went wild and apparently weren't fixed who inbred a few times (we helped catch and rehome anything we could but we didn't get them all) and the babies sometimes had extra toes or legs or were missing things...I just think this would add more genetic realism...
