Raised by his mother, the last lion from a scattered pride, he lived the harsh life of the unwanted, evading predators both foreign and of his own kind. After a hunter slew his mother for her pelt, Jerome wandered alone through the mountains of his homelands which became ever hostile to him. With a new hatred for mankind, he lingered there until his third year, when the humans at length drove him out. Now familiar with the pangs of hunger and bitterness, he grew hardened as he fled to the warmer lands of the west. It was there that he came across the elder lion Kohmir the Merciful, who now is imparting to him the way of kingship, alongside Kohmir's other charge, Beric. Both are intent on becoming king, and the rivalry between them will promise a bitter conflict upon the naming of a new heir.
