If you ask Mixcoatl how long she's been a hunter, she will chuckle and shake her head. "It's been many seasons," she'll say, and her expression will soften as her eyes seem to stare right through you for a moment. "But this will be my last." For over ten years, the lioness has been with the pride, hunting for and protecting it, but it's time for her to retire. Is she happy about it? Yes and no. A part of her is frustrated that she can't keep up with the younger lionesses in the pride anymore, but another part of her is excited to be turning the page and moving on to a new chapter in her life. In the end, she accepts her retirement with a smile on her muzzle. Perched atop a large rock is where you'll usually find Mixcoatl now. She's alone, but never lonely. Quietly watching the pride, she doesn't need to be surrounded by them to feel like she belongs. This is her family, and they love her just as much as she loves them.
