At first, she was reluctant to take up the role, especially since the king had died on the same day, but she finally agreed. She knew it was going to be a hard role to fill. Her mother had been the backbone of the pride, and the first to join Brokefang, but she would do her best beside her brother, who has taken the dead king's name on as a sign of respect. As Cally grew older, she watched her mentors as they passed away, knowing that one day it would be her turn. She only hoped that she would give her King a suitable heir for the title of Queen before she left him, and that she could teach the young princess all that she needed to know about the pride.
