Hekat

"As you two greet each other, Hekat moves away when you get too close. You try to approach her again, and she begrudgingly accepts the friendly nuzzle you offer her. She looks a bit bothered about it, though."
You went up to Hekat to ask how hunting practice went today. She instead told you all about a cool bird she saw on the way. You guess she doesn't really want to talk about it. Ah well.

Wise and stoic, Hekat is an ideal guardian and a loyal member of the pride. She is first among Coeus' queens, and rules beside him. Her counsel is valued above all others. While each lioness of the Queen's Cave holds the title "Queen", the High Queen ranks above them all, second to none but the King. Even the subordinate males must bow to her. She wields this authority with an iron claw, brooking no insubordination. Lions who cross her are often sent away or even killed if that is her wish. Despite this, she is a fair ruler as long as she is shown respect.

Coeus is smitten with her, though her blunt nature can aggravate him to no end.

In addition to ruling, she leads the pride's most formidable hunting party. Many of the other lionesses envy her striking appearance. She has recently borne two litters of cubs to Coeus. In the first, two females, Cersei and Selene. In the second, four females; Juliet, Annika, Samantha, and Felicity. They show great promise, and Hekat has vowed to train them to follow in her footsteps as high-ranked Queens of the pride in the future.

Now that Coeus is no longer King, Hekat fears her position is slipping away. She has placed her hopes in her final litter with the new King Enrapture, before she is too old to breed.
