Hatua

Hatua grew up believing Kich and he were littermates, despite the obvious fact that the two had different mothers and fathers - they were simply so joined at the hip that he found blasphemy that they were not related. Of course, he felt the same for Chēēbiitay, even if she was "a goody-two-paws". As it tends to happen, they were incredibly close as they were the only cubs in the same age range at the time, with the others being adolescents or too young to bring along for mischief. Like Cheeb and Kich, Hatua is now absorbed in his duties and training, but the three rascals still have time to plan mischief, which with Cheeb being a little more lenient than she was as a cub, is much easier - and a lot more fun.

Admittedly, Hatua feared Kich would resent him for Zee taking him, Kibto, and now Mercy for Felix tutoring, but long has Kich stated he has no interest in ruling, his place is in the hunt, and is proud of Hatua for having the bravery to assume such responsibility. Despite the praise he and the other two have earned from the pride, and the hopeful tomorrows the Jungle promises with either lion at the helm, Hatua hates thinking about it. He does not resent the idea of being given a life-long role, or the new duties that will come with it, he resents the age of the current Felix. Zee has been a father to him, a guide and guardian and mentor, but the male is old, and won't get much older. Sooner or later, someone will have to take his place. Hatua doesn't know what he'll do the day Zee is no longer around.

Later in the night, Hatua approached the new Felix and asked that he may be allowed to move back to the Hearth. The old heir apparent stated that he wants to make sure the Wardens and Cerberi don't want for help - with the last drought and the plague, other jungle residents, or even outsiders might get too daring for the pride's liking. Mercy agreed entirely, and to make sure the Chambers aren't left understaffed, he has asked Kiborootyat to cover for the other male. The dark lion agreed almost too quickly - longing for the peace and quiet of his pride's resting grounds and the tranquil company of the Undertakers and Monks.
