When chalk dust was just a young king, fresh from his own birth pride and hungry for his own, he didn't make the best choices. He frequently bought mercenaries from the other kings and beautiful lionesses that had no real value. While the lionesses hunted for him and gave him beautiful cubs, something was missing. It felt- wrong. After a few years, he sent away the old guard, keeping only a few that had served him faithfully. With new knowledge he set out, determined to find lionesses who had served no pride but his own. And he did. After many months of searching and a starving pride, he met a trio of wild lionesses. Their fur was plain, but he thought it beautiful. He asked them to join his pride and they did. They became his elite guard, his corp of killers that raised the next generation of hunters.
