“AND STRIKE”

The leopon striked down his training opponent fast, his own littermate Ruby. His movements were quick and intense, a viper waiting for the perfect moment to sink its teeth into a juicy mouse. Ruby was good, but not as good as he was. Quickly she found herself incapacitated and pinned at claws length. He had a smirk on his face, who knew a runt could be so vigilant in attack.

“That was good work you two, you’ll make fine warriors within our margins.” The old leopon looked down upon her, she radiated the pride of a mother. Jaspe found it hard to contain his excitement over the praise, soon he’d be able to fight alongside his people, and prove his worth as a Leopon.

“Thank you, my queen.” He bowed his head to her, and he could see that she had focused solely on him for a couple moments. Her bright eyes twisting and turning in thought.

“Jaspe, could you perhaps join me for a walk?” She barely gave him time to answer, as she turned and already started at her pace. Stunned for a couple seconds, he scrambled to follow her as Ruby gave him a proud nod. “You have become a valuable warrior, making the top of training.” She started, looking at the foliage as she spoke, as if her mind was in a thousand different places. “I want you to join the battalion tomorrow, some of our warriors are still recovering from the last raid, and we need all paws on the field.”

“I- yes! I mean of course, I mean, yes my queen!” He stuttered his words, unable to contain himself. The queen did nothing but give him a slight smile and a nod. By the time they headed back to camp, the sun had started setting, and he knew he would need all his energy for the battle of tomorrow…
Leaves crunched
Twigs snapped

Yet that did not give away the position of Jaspe. He moved as the forest, nearly invisible to even the most perceptive of lions. He lay low to the ground, the various bushes and trees concealed his fur from all sight. Yet he was not alone, within the trees near him were almost two dozen other leopon warriors, among them was Ruby.

Snap

Forward! There they were, raising his head silently, he could see the tigons emerge from their side of the slightly wooded clearing. They were huge muscular beasts, bulkier than leopons, yet lacking the silent sneaking ability that leopons prided themselves on. They waited in the shadows, watching as the Tigons descended foolishly into the seemingly empty clearing, yet they were soon proven wrong.

With the silent tail flick of the queen, the entire pride launched a mass abmush, charging from their trees too fast to be seen. Jaspe watched as Ruby collided with a large black tigon, tearing the fur from his back, blood spraying from the claw wounds.

Everywhere Jaspe looked, he saw his fellow pons clashing with tigons, and then he finally found his own. Right in front of him, the largest tigon he had ever seen, her coat mottled brown and gruff.

Yet he was not afraid.

Charging towards her he immediately knew what he had to do. Before she could even react he ran his needle like claws across her throat, blood trilling in the air. He watched as she looked at him in disbelief, gargling various words he couldn't understand. She fell to the ground and trembled, her body shook once, and then went limp.

He had killed a Tigon.

"You did wonderful. Certainly have proven your worth to the battalion of the Leopons, Jaspe."

Her praise rung in his head as he walked alongside another silvery form, that of a teammate. The other, Elijah, was rather silent as they continued their hunt, more or less seeking out places that Tigons used as hiding spots, any stragglers of their enemies.

"I think the Queen likes me. I'm a special one, huh, Eli. C'mon, ain't I?"

"Boasting about praise from the Queen doesn't necessarily make you special, Jaspe. It means she is proud of your hard work."

Elijah's head turned, pink eyes looking over the lithe, brutal male at his side. They walked in step, trained in doing so to avoid tripping over each other in a moment of need.

"Come on, Eli. You know she's definitely loving me for how good I am."

Jaspe grunted as he was headbutted in the chest, scowling at the other who had a smirk on his slim, scarred face. He shook his head and continued to walk, only to halt and step back, claws digging into the dirt briefly.

"What do we have here, hmm? Wifey of that stupid, dead Tigon and her new lady friend?"

Ahead of him, Kigeni stood, bristling in anger as she was partially blocked by a dark red form, who's stormy blue eyes were locked on the Leopons.

"You killed her? What a disgrace, killing a lady in her own territory."

The larger Tigon scoffed, thick tail flicking across the pale shoulders of her ally.

"I do what I must, darling."

That was all it took. Kigeni forced Erau out of her way, paws thudding against the path as she launched herself at Jaspe's face, clawing viciously and rapidly in an attempt to take him down or blind the Leopon. To the side, Jaspe's teammate was simply taunting, being bowled to the ground by a quick movement. Beneath Kigeni's paws, the Leopon thrashed and headbutted at her stomach, forcing her off with a snarl, not getting far as fury took over Kigeni and she lashed for his throat - nowhere near hesitating from the quiet and innocent
personality she held before the death of Kavayla. Claws made contact and she pushed forward, relying entirely on brute force and her rage to take him down. She didn't care who he was, who she was, all she wanted was revenge.

"Kigeni, stop!"

Narrowed eyes flickered, and her head turned towards Erau. The Tigon had Elijah pinned, who stared at Jaspe's unmoving form in shock. She lowered her draconic gaze, her white fur bloodied and paws tufted with silvery fur that had been torn from Jaspe's body. What did she just do?

"Damn it, Kigeni! You killed him!"

Erau stepped off and Elijah eased to his feet and fled, raising his voice with each step as he called for help. Dark eyes met angered yellow, and the female hung her head, letting out a heavy sigh.

"He. Deserved. It."
