When the dawn of lion prides graced these rocky lands, a long-forgotten male lion had been the first to lay the foundation of a pride known for their skilled and successful adaptation to the mountainous region. He and his pride claimed a cave densite that had a beautiful view of the snowy peaks up ahead, yet was still near the bottom of the mountain to travel and visit other lions' territories and prides. For a few years, they had grown used to living to an area where lions don't usually inhabit. Their cubs were born with thicker fur that was suitable for the cold, and the colors of their eyes and fur matched the landscape. The first king had expected a long reign and for his bloodline to continue far.
However primal lions had begun to appear; bigger, stronger, and more intimidating. At first, the forgotten king had battled away these mighty competitors. Then a young primal by the name Lady Inna had arrived. She had striking thick blue fur which faded to creamy paws, a heavy onyx mane, and an impressive set of fangs. The primal had challenged the first king and won, taking over the pride that inhabited the rocky, mountainous region.
Borne during a storm, and born of ice and snow, Lady Inna's heir was named Myrsky. He was a primal like his parent, but a variant of his kind called a smilus. When Lady Inna had retired from her leadership, Myrsky had claimed the kingship of the pride.
Though one young, strong primal had ventured up the mountains, seeking refuge from a bachelor group of lions that had turned on him. He was nameless, and having wanted a son, Myrsky had taken him in with a welcoming grace.
Unbeknowst to the young primal and Myrsky, the bachelor group had followed the young primal up the mountains and slaughtered the pride on the darkest night, including the pride's king. The nameless primal then claimed leadership and had taken on Myrsky's name, ending one bloodline and starting his new, fresh one in this land that was competed over with many times.

Only a Memory had been the daughter of the original Myrsky and one of his lionesses, Sigrid. She was renowned as a skilled soothsayer and impressive storyteller of the pride, and her abilities and talents weren't overlooked by her father's imposter. She had been allowed to live and stay on her home grounds, though she was nothing but a trophy and a leverage to keep her other live pridemates in line.
Some lions claim that her grief had been so strong that the tears that had fallen from her formed the frozen cave in the depths of the mountain, which she had retreated towards in order to escape the slaughter. With her father, mother, and most of her beloved pridemates gone, Only a Memory had taken on a new name to honor them. She is the only lion who remembers her name, effectively keeping the lioness she once was as only a memory.
Only a Memory does not say a word but curls up close to your feet as you sit down near her, seeming to need some affection right now. |
