Betelgeuse

Betelgeuse should have been practicing stalking lizards, but it looks like he got distracted watching in fascination as an anthill consumed a baby bird alive.
Betelgeuse didn't quite climb up in the fastest amount of time, but he left animal fat on the ledges behind him, so his classmates did even worse.
Betelgeuse tried to throw sand in his wrestling partner's eyes, but the other cub was too fast for him and defeated him. Sigh.

In South African mythology, Betelgeuse was a deadly lion stalking three zebras represented by the stars in Orion's belt in the age-old drama of predation and nourishment. Betelgeuse has also appeared variously in the folklore of cultures including ancient Persia, India, China, and Japan.

Betelgeuse comes from King Sefu's pride. As the grandson of the late King Bucha and the son of King Sefu himself, Betelgeuse seems to have the strength of both great kings in his being. He uses this to his advantage whenever possible, and was brought into Astaroth's pride following his series of attacks on the warriors of this newer pride. Astaroth, after fighting the then adolescent and being beaten into submission, decided Betelgeuse was too dangerous to have in any surrounding pride, and offered the young lion a deal. He could become second in command, Astaroth's right hand man, the second most powerful lion in the pride, so long as he would not attack the other pride mates anymore.

Nowadays, Betelgeuse spends his time on the outskirts of camp, keeping to himself whenever possible. He hunts, fights, and lives for himself, but serves as protector of the pride in return for their support whenever he asks.
