Backstory

Shilo arrived to the Court of Blood as an adult, older than most that would be allowed to stray so far into their territory. With her she brought her cub, a daughter named Era, and she presented herself and the young one to the Marshal of the Court. She spoke in a strange accent, clearly from far away from the territories of the Court, and introduced herself. When prompted on what she wanted, she explained that tales of the Courts had drifted from far their home, over mountains even, which is where she had come from. After the previous king of her pride died, Shilo knew she would risk losing her young cub if she remained, and had already lost a few of her litters this way as the exchange of kings in the area she lived in happened rapidly. She decided to head to something better, having heard of the stories of a group of lions who live differently. She fought her way over mountains, valleys, and plains, fighting for herself and her child until she reached the Courts. Impressed by her story, the Marshal accepted her into the Court of Blood, quickly putting her in a higher rank due to her clear strength and determination. She served under Medora, the former Commander of the Guard, and upon her death was promoted to that position. Her daugher, however, took a different path and left the Court of Blood to journey with the Court of Gold, leaving her mother behind to silently mourn the loss of her daughter's permeant company.

Personality

Shilo is a quiet lioness, usually content in keeping to herself and not showing much interest in anything other than her duties as a Captain of the Guard. She speaks with a sing-song like accent, one that interests Court of Night lions, but her lack of story telling ability quickly puts them off and causes them to lose interest in her. Despite this, some Court of Blood lions do seek her out in their time off to relax near her, pushing and prodding until she lets some little fact about her previous life slip, but she is very vague about that time. As a Commander, she is not as rough as Commander Medora and tends to be swayed by even the younger members of the Court on what she should do, but she still has a set goal and no matter the path she takes she does manage to reach it.

Stories

♥・・・・Rebuilding Familial Bonds・・・・♥

It had only been 6 months since Shilo had last seen her daughter, Era, when news of her return to the Court of Gold reached her through the Court of Night heralds. Shilo quickly dismissed herself from all meetings for the day, rushing to reach the Court of Gold in terror she would miss seeing her beloved daughter for even a few moments. Upon reaching the Court of Gold, Shilo was forced to impatiently weave between the many lions of the Court, greeting the traveling merchants and inspecting what wares they had brought with them.

It took a bit of searching, but finally Shilo spotted the dark golden fur of a certain lioness, swallowing down sudden rising anger. Iso had not exactly stolen her daughter from her, after all, though filling the young lioness' head with stories of adventure after what they had been through to just get to the Courts didn't help much. Shilo quickly sulked towards Iso, head down as she looked around for her daughter, who was bound to be near to her mentor.

Iso quickly spotted her, and despite Shilo's warning look, weaved herself around her and gave her a friendly lick on the cheek in greeting. "Shilo! Era is nearby, she was just helping dear Sen show off her current projects to some of the Court of Night lions." She purred happily. Shilo resisted the urge to shake her off, instead returning her affection with a small nuzzle. It would do her no good to shun someone so important to her daughter.

"Mother?" a voice hummed nearby, matching her own strange accent. Shilo perked up, looking up to see her daughter standing polietly to the side. Shilo purred loudly, rushing to touch her nose to her daughter's cheek and looking her over. She was healthy, even a bit plumper than she had last seen her. At least she was being fed out there in the wilds.

The scrutiny seemed to make Era uncomfortable, and Shilo backed away as she picked up on this. "Are you alright?" she asked, worried instantly by her strange behavior. Era opened her mouth to respond, but then Sen, Iso's daughter, was there and Shilo's attention was focused on something else entirely.

There, hiding under Sen's belly, were two young cubs. One, much more bashful than the other, crouched down under Shilo's stare. She had the same cute white stripe along her back that Era had. And the other, she had a shocking resemblance to Shilo herself. These were her grandchildren. Shilo stared at them in awe, unsure what to say.

Thankfully, Era filled the silence for her. "These are my daughters, mother. I...We actually came back so much sooner than we planned because of them." she explained sheepishly. Upon hearing their mother's voice, the cubs scurried over to her, pawing at her legs and begging for her attention. She barely flinched, keeping her eyes on her mother. "I was...hoping you would take them."

Shilo stared at her daughter in shock. Take them? As in...keep them here in the Courts? Her heart lifted at the thought that maybe her daughter was returning to her. But something in Era's eyes killed this hope quickly. "Why? I mean...I will, I will do anything to keep my kin safe, but why can you not keep them with you? Or stay with them?" Shilo asked, voice becoming a bit desperate. Iso and Sen exchanged a look, quickly melting into the crowd to give them some form of privacy.

Era shuffled her paws uncomfortably. "I have a life out there, mother. I love them, but it is dangerous for cubs. Sen had two of her own, and it's a miracle they survived to adulthood themselves." she explained. She lowered her head, nudging the two cubs closer to Shilo. She looked down at them, yawning and curling up against Shilo's paws. They must be exhausted after the journey to the Courts. She bent her head and gave each of them a loving lick on the top of the head, promising in her mind to care for them as long as they needed her. It would keep Era close to her, even when she wasn't in the Courts' territories, and would be a calling for her daughter to return to her eventually.
