• Hyena •

As you sneak through tall grass, wary of the many hyenas in the area, you are suddenly attacked by a tiny fluffball. You nearly yelp -- surprised. It's a hyena pup, and it's gonna give you away if it keeps making a racket! You concentrate again, and raise a paw to strike the tiny beast! Hopefully, you can knock it out!
You stop, it's not a Hyena pup. That's a lion cub! It growls at you, it looks a lot like a hyena. What's it doing here anyway? As it gets ready to bite you in the leg, a little critter climbs up on it and settles on its head.
The cub is distracted -- and tries to get the critter off, opening their mouth you can see their tiny teeth. It raises its head in an attempt to bite it - but, since it's on top of the cub, that doesn't work too well.
You chuckle a bit, and then you realize the Hyenas have noticed your presence, it's too late to run! But instead of attacking you, they regard you calmly. Asking what you're doing with their adopted child, and then they invite you to stick around for a bit, seeing as you weren't here to attack them. The cub is still convinced that you're somebody to battle, but they warm up to you eventually.

Eventually, the matriarch speaks to you. Telling you she believes that Speckle, the lion cub should go home with you. Saying she deserves to grow up amongst lions, where she can learn to the best of her abilities. Speckle isn't happy about this, and eventually, she does come with you - to meet her new pride. She tells you on the way that she wants to be called Hyena, in honor of your family. So she is introduced as such to the pride.
