The lioness of the pride know to keep away from him when he is in such a state, herding their cubs far away from him while he paces relentlessly. He should be king by now! His predecessor squanders the throne, too busy taking in charity cases to even entertain the idea of encroaching on the neighboring territories. But he was getting older and weaker. And while he sat on the throne, wasting away, Vanitas was only growing stronger. Vanitas has no time to take in strays, or worry about the many challenges brought on by kindness. When Vanitas became king, he would be quick to whip the pride into shape, crushing any inordinance under an iron paw. He would be heartless in his rule, and lions far and wide would cower at the sound of his name on the wind. For now, however, that fool remains in power, bringing in more and more strays while Vanitas is forced to bide his time until the older lion finally kicks the bucket and Vanitas can take the throne that rightfully belonged to him.
